More than 30 representatives of the French arms manufacture present their offer at the global Defence manufacture Salon. The Airbus Group, which promotes not only aircraft and helicopters, but besides an unmanned VSR700 platform, could not miss it. The drone chopper will supply ship commanders, among others, with a wide and transparent tactical image and will increase rescue capabilities.
Airbus is simply a regular associate of the Kielce Defence manufacture Salon. This year, the aero-arms company promotes on MSPO aircraft: A330 MRTT (Multi function Tanker Transport – a multi-tasking transport tanker) and A400M transport as well as a H145M school and combat helicopter. Visitors to the Airbus station besides have the chance to see the VSR700 unmanned. It's inactive developed.
The maker emphasizes that VSR700 was designed primarily to cooperate with aircraft and helicopters operating from ship decks.
Compact and elusive
The sea drone chopper is 6.2 m long and 2.28 m high. The diameter of the main rotor is 7.2 m. Airbus points out that compact VSR700 sizes and its silhouette make it hard for enemy radars to detect drones, and thanks to its burden capacity (maximum start mass: 760 kg) it can be equipped with various and efficient long-range sensors. This provides additional support to the operational capabilities of the naval forces. And compact sizes make it possible for both a manned sea chopper and respective VSR700 to be stationed on board a frigate or destroyer.
A drone with a full burden of ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) sensors may be in the air up to 8 hours at a ceiling of not more than 6000 m. It moves at a maximum velocity of 185 km/h. A takeoff and landing can take place at the wind blowing to 74km/h.
He'll track the submarines.
In addition to ISTAR missions (intelligence, surveillance, tracing and reconnaissance) VSR700 is besides designed to support activities in combating submarines (ASW – Anti-submarine warfare) by identifying periscopes utilizing radar and electrooptics. Unmanned is besides peculiarly well suited to identifying and monitoring activities in the fight against submarines (ASuW – Anti-surface warfare). Airbus ensures that VSR700, operating in an electronic combat environment, can take care of the right target, expanding the safety of naval troops located, for example, in a combat helicopter.
According to the manufacturer, VSR700 will besides be successful in all maritime safety monitoring activities (smuggling, water pollution, fisheries protection, illegal immigration, etc.) and search and rescue operations (SAR – Search and Rescue). VSR700 can not only search for survivors or sinking ships for 10 hours, but besides decision and dump a life raft.
The VSR700 chopper drone is inactive under development. In June, Airbus Helicopters signed a framework agreement with the French Ministry of Armed Forces and Naval Group to acquisition unmanned air systems for the French Navy. 1 of these systems is expected to be VSR700.
