Halina Jędrzejewska ps. “Sławka” died last night. Scout, National Army liaison, orderly in the Warsaw Uprising, Kombatan activist and honorary citizen of the capital city of Warsaw. She was 99 years old. On the eve of the 81st anniversary of the outbreak of the heroic event, the president of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski informed about her death.
"Very sad news on the eve 81st Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. That night Mrs. Halina Jędrzejewska “Sławka” left During the uprising, she was an orderly. For her heroism, she was twice decorated with the conflict Cross. Honorary citizen of the capital city of Warsaw. [...] Thank you for your dedication and dedication to the capital. For all gathering and conversation. We will always remember you," wrote president Rafał Trzaskowski on social media.
Halina Jędrzejewska before the war belonged to the 3rd Warsaw Women's Scouting Team, called "The Red Three". After returning from the areas occupied by the russian Union in May 1940, she again began to learn on secret sets at the Juliusz Słowacki advanced School in Warsaw. Here, together with another scouts in July 1940, she began a conspiracy operation as a liaison. To National Army joined in 1942.
Before the detonation Warsaw Uprising She was primarily active in passing orders, reports, press, and weapons. She had basic medical training as she was preparing to get together. “We learned to put on dressings, to dress wounds, to prepare immobilization, to put on a triangular scarf, to put on a topless dressing, a shoulder. [...] It was specified a typical training on how to deal with the unconscious, how to decision the injured one, how to safe him" - she recalled in an interview with the Archives of the Spoken Museum of the Warsaw Uprising.
In the Warsaw Uprising she served in "Miotla" battalion As a paramedic. She participated in fights in Wola, Old Town, Czerniakow and Prince Street. Her war experiences influenced her decision to survey medicine. She graduated from the University of Warsaw in February 1952. In May of the same year, she began working at an orthopaedic clinic where she worked until retiring in 1987. For years as an orthopedic physician, she consulted socially members of the Union of War Invadiments.
In the second half of the 1950s, she became active in working in a combatant community. Since June 1981, she has been a associate of the Bureau of the Management Board of the Provincial ZBoWiD, and in November 1994 she joined the Board of the Main Board of the Association of Warsaw Insurgents. After the death of Zbigniew Galperyn in 2022, she assumed the position of president of ZPW.
"The death of Mrs Halina Jędrzejewski "Sławka" is simply a immense failure to the full environment. Especially now, erstwhile all surviving insurgents are waiting to meet young people, to share their experiences with them, this is simply a very painful message. Mrs. Halina was very well-deserved to her environment. For many years she has been engaged in the conflict for the memory of the communists, about maintaining the memory of the Warsaw Uprising.
