Nawrocki: I will support the modernization of the army

Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz attended the event. The ceremony had a conventional character and was held before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

There is no safety of Poland without a Polish soldier

And there is no safety of Poland without a Polish soldier. I'm saying this due to the fact that I'm going to be an active head of the armed forces. A superior who wants to have – prefers voters – an influence on the recruitment system, modernization of the Polish Army and on the further improvement of Polish armed forces. I will do everything to build at least 300 1000 armies in the coming years, the strongest in Europe as part of the North Atlantic Alliance – declared Karol Nawrocki.

On future cooperation with the government in the field of defence, the president said: "The Presidential Palace and the National safety Office will not be a simplification in the government's actions on our common security. We will be a simplification in motivation, seeking common solutions for our common national security. I will respond, of course, where necessary, but I will always stand behind the modernization efforts of the Polish Army.

Powers of the Head of the Armed Forces

In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the president of the Republic of Poland acts as head of the armed forces. Although he is not liable for the state's current defence policy (this remains the work of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of National Defence), he has broad safety and defence competences.
