Nawrocki: I will support the modernization of the army

During the ceremony, the head of the MON Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish referred to the importance of the presidential oath and the function of the armed forces in current geopolitical realities. "In the words of the oath made present before the National Assembly by the President, the 2 values are the most accompanied by the authority over the armed forces: safety and independence," said the Deputy Prime Minister and added that these are sacred matters for all Pole. He besides pointed out that we have been surviving in the most hard times since the end of planet War II, and Poland is exposed to threats all day. However, he stressed that thanks to “an army of excellent soldiers, experienced and educated commanders”, Poland takes this hard exam. – Taking over the authority of the armed forces today, you, Mr President, take over the authority of the large army, the Polish Army. There is no safety of Poland without a Polish soldier

On this occasion, the Minister of Defence besides referred to the modernization of the Polish army. – The Army is experiencing the biggest transformation period in its history. Modernization, organizational changes, construction of drone troops, large investments, like “The Tartar East”, matters related to building the 3rd largest army in the North Atlantic Alliance today," said Kosiniak-Kamish.

He besides called for cooperation between the various centres of power, stressing that "the army must in no way be active in political disputes". Without cooperation there is no safety construction. Like the Minister of National Defence, he besides referred to the transformation in the armed forces. – There is no improvement of Poland without security, there is no prosperity of Poland without security. And there is no safety of Poland without a Polish soldier. I'm saying this due to the fact that I'm going to be an active head of the armed forces. A superior who wants to have – prefers voters – an influence on the recruitment system, modernization of the Polish Army and on the further improvement of Polish armed forces. I will do everything to build at least 300 1000 armies in the coming years, the strongest in Europe as part of the North Atlantic Alliance – declared Karol Nawrocki.

On future cooperation with the government in the field of defence, the president said: "The Presidential Palace and the National safety Office will not be a simplification in the government's actions on our common security. We will be a simplification in motivation, seeking common solutions for our common national security. I will respond, of course, where necessary, but I will always stand behind the modernization efforts of the Polish Army.

Powers of the Head of the Armed Forces

In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the president of the Republic of Poland acts as head of the armed forces. Although he is not liable for the state's current defence policy (this remains the work of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of National Defence), he has broad safety and defence competences. Furthermore, at the Prime Minister's request, the Head of the Armed Forces approves the plan and supervises the exercise of the national defence system. These maneuvers are organised periodically, at least all 4 years, and are attended by the highest authorities of Poland.
