At the beginning of the gathering the Deputy Prime Minister, the national defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said: "The safety situation of the Republic is very serious today. Therefore, the Shield East is not just an infrastructure task – it is simply a strategical government project, crucial for the defence of the state. At the same time, it is an integral part of the wider safety policy of the European Union and NATO. I anticipate all members of the squad to cooperate fully, focus on objectives and real results. We work for the safety of our citizens and the stableness of the full region.
The gathering discussed the advancement made in implementing the programme and approved the roadmap for the second half of 2025. Key challenges include: the request to guarantee appropriate backing at government level for individual contractors, the request to urgently introduce legislative changes to improve, among others, the process of acquiring land for investment, and improved coordination with civilian entities.
Referring to the request for more effective cooperation of the ministries, the Secretary of State in the MON Cezary Tomczyk stressed that: - Shield East is not a military plan - it is simply a state plan. present we decide whether Poland will be prepared for the most hard scenarios. We're building a firewall that's expected to scare the aggressor, give the field an advantage, and time to react. We request full coordination of the full government.
The squad approved an updated timetable for the second half of 2025, including the launch of engineering work in key locations, further land acquisition, law adjustment, land acquisition for the location of materials warehouses and material purchases.
In summary, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said: "We have clearly defined tasks and we know what to do. Thank you for the constructive discussion and for identifying the key areas for coordination. I ask you to extend the team's membership to voivodes from the regions where the Shield East programme is being implemented – their engagement will be necessary. At the same time, I call for intensive action to safeguard European resources, which will underpin this strategical investment.
