Can these top specialists get dressed in uniform?

When I started my service here in 2019 (in February 2019, Gen. Molenda became a MON lawyer for the creation of cyberspace defence troops – ed.) I sought different solutions to build a strong team. fewer people believed I could do it at the time. But we acted gradually and methodically. We have developed a number of initiatives to support talent and steer young people's careers accordingly. I mean, at least the program. ‘Cyber.mil classy’which was yet introduced in 16 advanced schools. We've established cooperation with secondary schools, training youth from cybersecurity, we besides worked intensively with the Military method Academy. It's all a percent today, due to the fact that our ranks are joined by the best lieutenants from WAT.

General Paul Miki Nakasone, who was the commander of the United States Cyber Command, erstwhile told me that if I want to build cyber troops in Poland, I must build a squad of winners – due to the fact that everyone wants to be part of the winning team. I memorized this advice, listened to the needs of the people, and present we have specified a squad of winners. We confirm this all year Standing on the podium of Natian cybersecurity exercises – Locked Shields. It was during these exercises that I became convinced how many people would like to join the WOC.

The way to the army is not so difficult. Military recruitment centers are waiting for candidates...

That's true, but we're attracting cyber specialists who have a large pay-per-view occupation in civilians. They are usually not curious military service as such, for example, in land troops, but they are willing to cooperate with the WOC. Their motivation is not remuneration, but that the actions carried out by cyber soldiers are of strategical importance for the safety of the country and the Armed Forces of Poland and that we have contact with the opponent all day.

Initially, candidates came to us mainly from territorial defence troops and operating within WOT cyber troops. Now we're going a step further and we've launched Cyber LEGION.

How will this program work?

It's working, due to the fact that people who in 2019 asked me to service in the WOCThey're with us today. "The program of consolidation of the Polish “cyber” community around the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and cyberspace defence troops – “Cyber LEGION”, due to the fact that that is the authoritative name of the program, is intended to let cybersecurity professionals to engage in military work. It's about a flexible form of service that won't require a career to be abandoned in civilian service. So we are talking about, among another things, an active or passive reserve. DKWOC will be able to appoint reservists for military exercises as well as for service, if necessary, e.g. After any massive cyber attack.

As part of the program, we have prepared 12 different tasks, and 1 of the most crucial ones is Cyber-BACKUP. If there is simply a serious attack on critical infrastructure, we will scope for the cognition and skills of cyber specialists to face the threat together. Another task is, for example, Cyber-GYM. We will invitation those who are not ready for military service in any form or who have a wellness category another than A to take part in the program under the "Not only A(arms)" task. The rules give us specified opportunities, and I intend to take advantage of that. We have the most crucial functional hands and head, not muscle strength, so we will besides scope for specialists whose strategy has ruled out.

On the another hand, the task of "Hack the Army" is to support us in uncovering weaknesses in our systems before our adversaries find them. We encourage the best specialists to participate in these activities. If they find a real threat to our systems, we can make it up to them. Applications can be sent now. How much interest is the program?

It's huge, and I must say, it's beyond my expectations. In the first days of the application, more than 400 people were sent, and now we have over a 1000 volunteers. Doesn't mean all these people will join the WOC. First of all, we request to carry out a detailed analysis of the reports, which includes the Military Counterintelligence Service. But the possible in these people is immense and we are very happy.
