
Viktor Orban believes it is time for the EU to abolish the sanctions imposed on Russia after its aggression against Ukraine. According to the Prime Minister, the "new period" begins. “We will throw sanctions out the window”, he stated in a radio interview on Friday.
The Hungarian Prime Minister gave an interview to Kossuth radio, in which he commented, among others, on the upcoming inauguration Donald Trump.

The head of government added that in his opinion Trump would reconstruct Republican values, which are contrary to the "globalistic" democratic policy. He added that 4 years of democratic administration in the United States is simply a time of "bitter, hard and painful failures".

Orban besides stressed that he had a affirmative outlook on 2025. He said that 2024 was hard due to decisions made in 2023 and economical losses caused by the war in Ukraine. The year 2023 was referred to as “shock” in the energy market.
In this context, Orban predicts that the end of the war in Ukraine is consistent with the fresh economical cooperation between the EU and Russia.

Orban spoke critically about Ukraine.
“We must besides start dealing with Ukraine through non-war prisms. We are talking about a country that is incapable to sustain itself and whose economy is not connected to the strategy European Union – he noted.
