It was Poland in a pill, where primaries were held. "Who's going to win? I'm curious myself."

Years ago, they were hailed Polish in a pill. They called the barometer of what electoral moods are like in Poland. A litmus paper that reflects the political preferences of Poles. It was here that the primaries were organized 3 times, and the results of the elections were akin to those nationwide. This time there are no primaries, but the moods in this "pill" besides say a lot. This is the Wierusz. The city where Andrzej Duda won virtually by...1 vote 10 years ago. And today, any see more posters by Rafal Trzaskowski. And the another Charles Nawrocki.

– We are a phenomenon – so the inhabitants of Wieruszów told me six years ago. It was 2019. The city was preparing for the second primary in its history, for the first time since 1997, and it was a major event on a national scale.

– We have examined the results of our elections and it is clear that they reflect the percent of nationwide results. And the percent of the difference is within the mistake limits. We looked at these results and from the elections we concluded that they were very similar. That there is something about it – the deputy mayor of the city explained at the time.

With perfect overlaps, there were differences, but the trend was evident. In 2019 he won the PiS here and its consequence was close to the national elections. And in 2023, the sensation was KO winning. The civilian Coalition virtually got wind in the sails. "We're going for victory!", "PiS defeated! For now in Wieruszów" – KO politicians responded.

This consequence did not coincide with the results of the national elections won by PiS. Interestingly, in Wieruszów itself he besides won the PiS – he won 33.74 percent of the votes here, and in the primary 32.32 percent. In turn KO – 24.69 percent, and in the primary 34.08 percent.

However, all time the full Poland lived primaries in Wieruszów. The politicians brought all the options into town, all the eyes were on them. That's why you're asking to know how it is today. What are the moods? Who do they bet on? Who here can win the presidential election? Are they inactive Polish in the pill?

Trzaskowski more visible, can win Nawrocki

– If you go through the Wieruszów, you can see Trzaskowski. He's more visible. His posters and banners hang on private property. Nawrocki is only in 2 or 3 places. I don't see any another candidates. Apart from them, there is no 1 – says Czesław Wróblewski, erstwhile mayor and erstwhile city councillor, who organized the first primary in Wieruszów in 1997, from which everything started (more about them we wrote here).

However, another of the inhabitants of Wieruszów has a different image. I see mainly Mentzen and Nawrock banners in Wieruszów. Trzaskowski is less. There was more in the erstwhile election, and now there is less. I'm amazed due to the fact that I walk around town, I see. What does that mean? I don't know. due to the fact that the moods in the city are different today, he says.

However, how much does this yield electoral preferences? Who would win if the primaries were held here?

– The last 1 won our KO, and I think it should win now too. But I don't know if he'll win. He can win Nawrocki – he answers.

Czesław Wróblewski mentions that there was TVP in the city and residents told what they thought and these were very interesting statements. – any praised the Law and Justice, others praised it. This is Poland in a pill. I think Trzaskowski and Nawrocki would have had a chance with us. The consequence would be alternatively balanced and they would both enter the second round. And who in Wieruszów would win the second round? However, I fishy Nawrocki – he thinks.

– But I'm not sure. I myself wonder who will win with us – he adds quickly.

Why does he fishy Nawrocks? – due to the fact that people complain that it is getting worse and more expensive. That the price of surviving a household increased. And that's not what they say, that's what they do. People are upset, I can tell. And this complaining makes you vote like this, not different – he says.

Regret and bitterness in the city and in the area are actually felt. Not just due to that.

Duda won 1 vote more than Komorowski

Wieruszów has about 9,000 inhabitants. The full municipality is located in the Łódź Voivodeship. And he's got an interesting location. – We are 144 km from Łódź, we have 3 km to Wielkopolska Voivodeship and 89 km to Wrocław. We're expected to be Wielkopolska, but we're closer to Wrocław. We are expected to be closer to Wrocław, but we gotta go to Łódź to sign various papers – the mayor of the city of Rafał Przydę.

After 1997, he returned to organize the primaries in Wieruszów and in 2019 and 2023 was their initiator. They were judged very well afterwards.

So why aren't the primarys held now, before the 2025 presidential election?

– due to the fact that in the case of presidential elections, that doesn't work. The results from Wieruszów overlap only in the case of parliamentary elections – he explains in an interview with Temat Rafał Przybył.

However, as he adds, there is simply a lesson for the remainder of the country from their city. An example? The 2015 presidential election.

The election in Wieruszów showed that all vote counts. due to the fact that in the municipality of Wieruszów Andrzej Duda won with Bronisław Komorowski with 1 vote, says the mayor.

That was 10 years ago. Andrzej Duda won 3121 votes (50.01 percent) and Bronisław Komorowski 3120 (49.99 percent). Turnout was just over 55 percent.

For comparison in 2020 Andrzej Duda won 54.22 percent of the votes in Wieruszów and Rafał Trzaskowski 45.78 percent.

And even more so, in 2010 the presidential election in the municipality of Wieruszów was won by Jarosław Kaczyński. He received 64 votes more than Bronisław Komorowski.

How can it be now?

"The society is so divided that 1 of the another laughs"

One of the inhabitants of Wieruszów, asks for anonymity: – This is unpredictable, but I fear that we can win the lie of the PiS. For the last 10 years, they've been making any people have a mill in their heads with these manipulations that it's hard to reverse. That's why I think the Nawrocks can win here.

– Nawrocks lie to their eyes, and in the Law and Justice, they go. They repeat it so many times that people will yet believe – he adds.

A resident of another village from Wieruszów County: I think Nawrocki will win. Older people will go to the elections, young people are more resistant. All I hear is that especially young men are behind Mentzen. Therefore, if the majority of the elders vote, it will win the PiS.

Czesław Wróblewski observes that erstwhile people were more open. Now they don't say out loud who they'll vote for: – Society is so divided that 1 of the another laughs. If, let's assume, individual wants to vote for Karol Nawrocki, then it's not official. due to the fact that people justice it differently.

About the general political distribution of forces in the city says: – The old town is right-wing people. But, as chipboards were established, about a 1000 workers arrived. With families, it was about 4,000 people. It was part of the left-wing population. This, among others, caused Wieruszów to be Polish in a pill, although there were more specified cities in the country.

The mayor claims that the city has a balance. He besides notices posters of Simon Holown. So it is hard to foretell what the consequence might be.

Like all over Poland.

"Only Mentzen was with us," "Nawrocks? I don't remember," "Shame for Wieruszov"

In the city, however, there is any regret. 1 of the inhabitants with bitterness: – After all, we were forgotten a little.

When the primaries were organized, crowds drew to them. In 2023, nearly 40 candidates from various parties arrived.

– It was here, in Wieruszów, that the changes in foster care were promised. They're gone. This is where politicians signed to prevent animal homelessness. By promising it to their eyes, KO politicians recorded it straight to themselves, due to the fact that the people of Wieruszev did not hear it on TV, they did not read about it in the press. They heard it from them, live, face to face. And after the primaries, they were never here again. They won, went, cut off their tickets and forgot – Mayor Wieruszów tells us.

When we ask who from the presidential candidates visited their city in this campaign, we hear that only Sławomir Mentzen. He came in early May.

Only Menzten was here. No 1 but Mentzen was here. Only Menzten visited Wieruszów – the inhabitants we asked repeat.

However, erstwhile we check, it turns out that there was besides Karol Nawrocki in Wieruszów, but long ago, in early March, and seemingly not everyone registered it. Nawrocks in Wieruszów? I don't remember – feel surprised.

It is. He arrived, and under the phase mostly older people listened to him. Under the recordings of this visit to the local portals, it was full of irony. "The crowd of young people can't be seen," "You get off the stage, shame save", "Drama", "The Theatre for the naive", "It's most likely the weakest PRP candidate in years!", "A shame for Wieruszov to accept specified a man. Massacre" – comments fell.

Or, "Get out of the written lie! "Who invited him to Wieruszów?", "Mr. Nawrocki, not only Tusk is liable for the price. Your organization too...".

Apart from Mentzen and Navrock, there were no another candidates during the current run in Wieruszów.

– It's a shame they didn't visit us and present their candidacy. But time will tell. We'll see. I'll be behind the Holovnia," says 1 of the residents.

"Everyone's forgotten our Wieruszov"

Mayor Rafal has arrived himself saying that he resents politicians. All of them.

– We risked a lot. We've prepared everything for the primary, politicians are here. On platform X and on social media, it shrieked. Prime Minister Tusk wrote about Wieruszów. After the election I heard opinions that the Wieruszów surely had an impact on the final consequence of the election, due to the fact that those who could hesitate and saw the results of the primaries preferred to go with the winners alternatively than the losers. And you know that everyone has forgotten about our Wierusz? – he says.

Rafał Przyści reserves that they are not and were never rematched. I've never thought in those categories. erstwhile KO won the primaries in Wieruszów, the stone fell from my heart. We were hoping for normal. And nevertheless disappointed I am with what happens in politics behind this coalition, of course I like it alternatively than hanging on the wall of Prime Minister Kaczyński," he says.

What does he mean?

– I am the mayor who had president Duda and Kaczyński hanged on the wall. Now it's Prime Minister Tusk. But I besides have the full alley of those who might hang in his place. It's Duda, Kaczyński, or me dressed like a moose. This is simply a merry-go-round. Depending on who's in charge, I'm the 1 who hangs him on the wall. Referring to Schweik, he answers.

The mayor says he's not active with any organization and the municipality is apolitical. Self-government is sacred to him. – I started with the slogan "Politic-free Drills". For 11 years I go with this slogan on my shirt – he says.

During the pandemic, he became celebrated for his mocking opposition to the presidential election at the time—putting on the net a movie as he speaks, lying in a coffin. He says that as a municipality, they have suffered conventions that they did not supply individual data to Poczcie Polska for announced envelope elections. And the mayors and mayors who passed the PESEL number benefit financially to this day.

Would he have organized another primary in Wieruszów?

- Yeah. due to the fact that I see how crucial this is. It is simply a investigation instrument, but above all educational. I've always cared about the primaries being educational fun. No 1 fought at the time, no 1 jumped at each other's throats. Parents brought their children, teaching that this 1 voice could weigh very much. Telling them and that small country and that large one. It's a basic job. I have the impression that the primaries influenced the greater awareness of the inhabitants, that it was essential to discuss, not to offend – he says.

Czesław Wróblewski wanted to make a museum of primaries in Wieruszów, he went to the Ministry of Culture. It didn't work.

The question is whether they are inactive the Polish in the pill. It'll turn out after the election.
