April 15, Wrocław. On that day, soldiers of the 10th Wroclaw Communications Brigade left the units in full uniform to show their pride in belonging to the Armed Forces of Poland. It's not just a symbol – it's besides an expression of respect for the militants and those who service their homeland all day. The celebrations of the ‘Duma Day of the Uniform’, combined this year with the global Kombatant Day, became an chance to publically show the values of the military.
We are with you – not only during the rehearsal
In everyday pursuit, it is easy to forget that people who are ready to stand next to us – on the bus, on the street, in the office – are moving around all day. They are soldiers of the 10th Wrocław Communications Brigade, on that day they decided to remind the residents of Wrocław of their presence.
“It is frequently only our families that know that we service in the military, but a soldier has a very crucial function in society. That is why we want to show that we are arrogant of what we are doing," said Major Piotr Bastkowski, the press spokesperson for the 10th Wroclaw Communications Brigade.
This year's edition of April 15 took on peculiar importance due to the fact that it was linked to the global Kombatant Day. It was to the combatants – those who stood without hesitation in the defence of the Homeland – soldiers of the Wrocław Communications Brigade decided to pay tribute.
Pride and Renunciation
Wearing a uniform is simply a privilege, but besides a large responsibility. This is simply a commitment to a socially trustworthy attitude – not only during combat activities, but besides in regular service.
“By participating in the Day of Duma from the Uniform we wanted to show that we are together with the inhabitants of Wrocław and Lower Silesia not only in crisis situations – as during the last flood, erstwhile we worked together side by side. We are present and ready to aid each day," adds Major Bastkowski.
However, there is something more behind the service in uniform – regular sacrifices, separation with the family, intensive training and readiness to act at any time. This day has besides become an chance to reflect on how much service costs and how crucial it is to support not only the closest but the full society for soldiers and combatants.
Patriotism begins with respect
Duma Day celebrations from the Uniform are not only a form of designation for soldiers, but besides an crucial component in shaping patriotic attitudes. It is simply a surviving lesson in history, tradition and work for the future. The common memory of those who fought for freedom and independency becomes that day a bridge between generations.
