Tomorrow (Sunday) on the 85th anniversary of the Katyń Crime at 3:00 p.m. from the erstwhile office of the Museum of the Polish Army (Aleje Jerozolimskie 3), about 300 reconstructors from different parts of Poland will depart in silence in the streets of the capital in the 18th Katyn Shadow March. This is simply a tribute to Polish officers murdered by Russians in 1940 in Katyn and another places.
Before the march at 10 p.m. there will be a Holy Mass in the Polish Army Department.
The participants of the march will pass through the Royal way and Old Town. The event will end at the monument of the Deceased and Murdered in the East
The organizers of the Katyń Shadow March are the Institute of National Memory and the Historical Group "Radosław Group". The Katyn Museum is the partner of the event.
Soldiers of the Polish Army, officers of the State Police and the Border defender Corps, whom in April 1940. The Russians shot in the back of the head, to the end faithful to Poland – they cannot be forgotten. The memory of the russian crime in Katyn should be alive, so the yearly march through the historical center of the capital in silence and focus gives reflection on those who, as soldiers of September 1939 and later prisoners of russian camps, did not return to their homes – the Russians murdered were buried in Katyn pits. The Communists fought against their memory for decades. 3.40 p.m. – Castle – reading the list of Polish officers killed
4:10 p.m. – Krasiński Square – memory of murdered clergymen
4.30 p.m. – memorial to the Deceased and Murdered in the East at Muranowska Street – the end of March
