— The determination of European countries to support Ukraine should be positively assessed. Europe is in a very hard situation. On the 1 hand, it has an American attitude, on the another hand, Russia and a threat on its part that no 1 wants to intensify. And all of this with limited possibilities of the Old Continent – says Gen. Bogusław Pacek, manager of the Polish Military Museum in Warsaw, in an interview with Onet, assessing The results of the Thursday summit in Paris, attended by representatives of 27 countries, including EU countries, EU institutions and NATO.

— It is clear that present there are 3 strong leaders in Europe. This tercet is the president of France Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister of large Britain Keir Starmer and, what is peculiarly crucial to us, our Prime Minister Donald Tusk. France has already declared a very pro-Ukrainian attitude, with the readiness to send troops to Ukraine, the same Britain," General Pacek says.

“Poland does not have specified a will for the time being, although I would not regulation out that in the future we will besides be involved. However, our situation is difficult, not only due to the ongoing election campaign, but alternatively due to complex Polish-Ukrainian historical relations. We must be very delicate and careful erstwhile sending troops to Ukraine, so that the situation does not occur, in the reception of the Ukrainians, the reverse of what we assume.

However, Poland is simply a hub, military aid goes through our country to Ukraine, which matters. And we will not turn our backs on Ukraine – noted the manager of the Polish Military Museum.

Mission to Ukraine without Poland. “We must be very careful here”

On Thursday, French president Emmanuel Macron announced that “in the coming days” a French-British mission would go to Ukraine to prepare a framework for engagement in the event of a possible sending of troops to Ukraine.

— Reinsurance forces issued by respective countries will be sent to Ukraine — said the French leader after the summit of “a coalition of willing”. Soldiers would go to Ukraine after signing an agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

"The decision of France to send the alleged reassurance force to Ukraine is reasonable adequate that it does not annoy Americans or Russians adequate to origin any repercussions on their part. At the same time, Europe maintains sanctions on Russia, despite the movements of America, to possibly loosen these sanctions, says Gen. Pacek.

— Of course, we would like this coalition of willing to become an organized initiative, but present it is impossible. And that's due to the fact that we'd be standing in a clear contrast to Russia and to the States, and so far there's no request to put it in specified a drastic way. Let me stress, for now, due to the fact that we don't know which way the American administration will go. Today, however, we cannot afford to build a European platform in contrast to America. We want these initiatives to be developed so as to act in symbiosis with US forces," says Gen. Pacek.

— But in the sub-text, building these European alliances, with the peculiar function of France, the UK and Poland shows that Europe is preparing for an option of self-defence of its continent. Not by accident. Macron talked about atomic deterrence earlier.which would only be needed if there was no specified deterrence in the US. What in the future, given developments, cannot be excluded – concludes Gen. Pacek.
