The slide pass, besides referred to as the "fifth Achilles NATO", is simply a strategical strip of terrain about 100 kilometres long, which connects Poland with Lithuania. This narrow passage separates Belarus from the Russian royal circuit, and its importance in the context of the safety of the full region is enormous.
Expert: Russia can attack Poland here
The military expert and erstwhile intelligence officer of the United Kingdom, Philip Ingram, points out that Russia's capture of the area could cut off the Baltic States from their allies in NATO, which would pose a serious threat to the stableness of this part of Europe.
– We are seeing an increase in Russian military presence in the royal region and Belarus. We are witnessing abrupt military exercises and different military movements," said The Sun Ingram. The expert stressed that these actions are a serious informing signal that should be taken into account by NATO countries.
Ingram is besides of the opinion that the invasion of the slide pass could be preceded by increased propaganda from the Kremlin to destabilise the Baltic states. In his view, we will see an effort to incite unrest among Russian-speaking minorities, which could form part of a broader destabilisation strategy.

The building of the Council of Ministers was damaged – a fire broke out on the advanced floors" - he described. 2 people died: a parent with a two-month-old child.
More than 20 houses and kindergartens were damaged in Zaporozh, and warehouses were destroyed in the thin Horn. In Odessa, the Russians hit a residential block.
