Karol Nawrocki assured on Lithuanian tv that the president and the Government of Poland talk with 1 voice on safety issues. The president stressed during his visit to Vilnius that safety issues were excluded from political dispute.
"When it comes to safety issues, we are in constant contact with the Ministry of Defence. safety issues are excluded from political dispute" - Nawrocki said in TVP Vilnius. He besides pointed out that Poland is cooperating with Western European countries in assessing the risks from Russia, despite differences in another issues.
Russian threat to the region
The president pointed out that Russia has been a real threat to the Baltic States and Poland for years, and the war in Ukraine confirms this. Nawrocki stressed the request to carefully track the Russian-Belarusian military exercises of Zapad.
"When it comes to the Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin, we in Poland, I think besides in Lithuania and in the Baltic countries, we have no experience another than the endless aggression since Tsar Russia by Bolshevik Russia to this day. Russia is just aggressive," the president said.
Terms of Peace in Ukraine
When asked about possible peace between Ukraine and Russia, Nawrocki stressed that this must be a lasting peace. "Peace that will not give the Russian Federation the feeling that war is worth it" - he noted.
The president added that peace cannot give Russia a sense of military, territorial or economical victory. Otherwise, it would be detrimental to global safety architecture.
Position of Polish troops
Nawrocki assured that he did not plan to consent to sending Polish troops to Ukraine. He pointed out that Polish aid should trust on infrastructure, hardware and military support, but without the participation of the Polish Army on the front.
"The first time in sending troops to Ukraine should have Western states, whose soldiers do not rise specified a large negative emotion in Moscow" - the president pointed out. He recalled that Poland is the main hub of aid to Ukraine and implements commitments to NATO above the required standards.
Cooperation with neighbours
The president pointed to a hybrid threat on the Polish east border, peculiarly related to migration. He stressed the request for strategical cooperation with the Baltic and Nordic countries.
On Monday, Nawrocki spoke in Vilnius with president Gitanas Nauseda, appointed Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginiene and president of the Lithuanian Seym Saulius Skvernelis. On Tuesday he will start a visit to Helsinki, where he will meet with the Finnish president Alexander Stubb.
