Vladimir Putin during his speech at the global economical Forum in Petersburg expressed his deep concern about the escalation of global tensions. In the context of the ongoing war in the mediate East and the conflict in Ukraine, the Russian president did not regulation out that the planet is approaching the border of global armed clash.

Russia comments: The planet on the edge?

During the plenary session, the economical Forum in Petersburg Putin was asked whether he saw the real hazard of the outbreak of planet War III. The question was raised in the context of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second War. The Russian leader's consequence was clear: – It's very disturbing. I say it without irony, no joke. The possible for conflict is large – stated.

Putin pointed straight to the current outbreaks: not only Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine, but besides tensions between Israel and Iran. In his opinion, these are conflicts that can get out of control.

Israel and Iran – what happened?

Russian warnings did not appear in vacuum. Just a fewer days earlier, 12 June, Israel issued an ultimatum to Iran, demanding its atomic programme to be restricted. Otherwise, there would be a military attack. In practice, armed action began already at night from 12 to 13 June.

Since then, there has been a regular exchange of fire, and experts have warned that each day of fighting increases the hazard of extending the conflict to the full region. Putin's reaction fits into this concern – although there were no words about Russia's actions, the speech of the speech itself was highly serious.

“It concerns us directly,” Putin says

“The conflict is not only far away,” stressed the president of Russia. He's right under our noses. It straight affects us – he said, reasoning about the ongoing war in Ukraine and the possible effects of the destabilisation of the mediate East.

Putin had previously utilized a akin communicative to represent Russia as a state threatened by the West and NATO forces. However, this time his words attracted attention due to the wide global context and the fact that they fell into the midst of the representatives of the economical world.

Polish reaction: “The spectrum of war is coming closer”

In Poland Putin's message did not pass without an echo. The MEP of the Left, Joanna Scheering-Wielgus, warned that military action in the mediate East could be the beginning of something much more dangerous.

"The conflict between Israel and Iran is closer to what should not have happened. Putin only uses it – she said in a conversation with the media. This is simply a failure of planet diplomacy. I am terrified of what is happening," she added.

She besides pointed out that tensions in the region could distract the planet from Ukraine, allowing Russia to regroup.

Are we in danger of a planet war?

Although many experts are toning the mood, stressing that planet war is inactive a distant scenario, it is impossible to hide that global tensions have been the top in many years. Conflict in the mediate East, Russian aggression on Ukraine, tensions in East Asia (China–Taiwan), as well as migration and energy crises – all of this creates a dangerous mix.

Putin, not for the first time, uses the language of fear. But even if his words are designed to exert political pressure, it is worth taking them seriously – due to the fact that besides much happens simultaneously to ignore possible effects.
