At the invitation of the president of the organizational committee, Dr. Tomasz Musiuk, Deputy manager of the Public Treatment of the wellness Care Department in Hajnówka, WIM-PIB staff attended the conference “Anesthesiological Challenges in the Face of Armed Conflict” held in Białowieża on 13-15 March 2025.

The Military Medical Institute-State investigation Institute has been actively supporting the infirmary in Hajnówka since 1 August last year by on-going work for the military on the SOR by military doctors from WIM-PIB. Both the current needs of military wellness services and the ambition of WIM are to make a model model of civilian wellness services cooperation with military services, utilizing the model from Hajnówka. The common experience and knowing of the work they have been working together for respective months have the chance to bring about a task that will better prepare civilian doctors for the circumstantial challenges posed by the crisis.

RECLAMA

On the first day of the conference, Paweł Wiktorzak and Mr Łukasz Bilski from the Faculty of medicine of Fields of Combat and Medical Simulation of the WIM-PIB Postgraduate Training Centre organized and conducted an interactive lecture on the handling of mass events and workshops in the field of Trauma Team. These classes active the audience in an interactive, applicative decision-making game, during which players themselves make decisions on how to deal with situations discussed at the lecture, which gives the chance not only to learn from their mistakes but besides to realize them. Another proposal by employees of the WIM Simulation Centre under the direction of Paweł Wiktorzak was a large interest in the meetings in the field of Trauma squad conducted on a advanced fidelity simulator. The request for these trainings for a group of Podlasie medics: doctors, nurses and paramedics is highly important, due to the fact that especially these groups want to be prepared for the possible of war, and the experience gained will besides be highly useful erstwhile ordering a squad during mass events, specified as accidents or natural disasters, where a large number of victims, affected by circumstantial injuries, can be expected.

The next day, our experts at WIM-PIB focused on giving lectures on the possible non-traumatic risks of the crisis. "Infectious infections and gastrointestinal parasitic diseases associated with the migration pathway – is that a real threat? The rank of the problem in Poland" was an crucial subject preparing doctors to work in border areas. The data for the speech were prepared by the Colonel of Dr. Krzysztof Kłos, (Clinique of interior Diseases, Infective Diseases and Allergology Military Medical Institute of PIB), Dr. dr. med and n. on wellness Anna Olczak-Pieńkowska (director of the Department of Public Health, Epidemiology and Waccinology of the Military Medical Institute of PIB) and Colonel Prof. Krzysztof Koziewski (director of the Department of Epidemiology and Tropical medicine of the Military Medical Institute of PIB). The information presented by Dr. Krzysztof Kłos during the presentation was sometimes shocking, especially as Dr. Kłos has been working with doctors from Hajnówka from the beginning and is the coordinator of the preventive program for soldiers of Operation Boreliosis. Then Dr. Olczak-Pieńkowska and Dr. Kłos conducted a discussion which summed up 2 days of anesthesiologists' meetings. The conclusion of many of the subjects raised was, first of all, a large desire dictated by the awareness of the request to train medical personnel for the benefit of the people of Podlasie and the soldiers stationed there.
