German ambassador called to the rug in Moscow

"The background is the case of a well-known Russian writer Sergei Feoktistov in Berlin who works for the state Russian media group. He accused German police of confiscating his family's passports to prevent his wife and daughter from leaving the country after he was summoned to leave himself," said Ria's agency.

In response, Moscow threatened with retaliation and warned German correspondents to prepare for it. Russia has repeatedly accused Western countries of mistreatment of their journalists and limiting their work. In 2022, the EU banned Russian tv station Russia present and accused the Kremlin of spreading "disinformation" about the conflict in Ukraine via that station.

Russia in turn blocked access to dozens of Western media in the country. respective Western journalists were refused entry. Relations between Moscow and Berlin have been in the worst condition since the Russian attack on Ukraine. Germany is 1 of the strongest supporters of Ukraine.
