More Crabs in Production

Representatives of Huta Stalowa Wola and the South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace signed a contract to supply key components for the next 87 Polish Krabs. The contract is scheduled to be carried out between 2026 and 2028, with an estimated value of around $280 million, or over a billion zlotys.

The contract signed on HSW provides for transportation by Korean partner powerpacks for AHS Krab chassis. The contract, the value of which is estimated at about $280 million (more than a billion zlotys), is to be carried out between 2026 and 2028. This is the tenth contract concluded by the Polish arms manufacture with the Korean company Hanwha Aerospace regarding the production of AHS Crab – key artillery strategy operated by the Polish Armed Forces.

In December 2024, the Armed Forces Agency ordered from HSW 96 cannonhohabic Krab 155 mm caliber with command wagons, command and relay, ammunition and repair of weapons and electronics. The contract, worth about PLN 9 billion, will cover the request of 4 squadron fire modules (DMOs) Regina. 1 specified module is 24 Crabs and 18 carts of command and logistics.

Although recently, in May 2024, he was signed a letter of intent which gives emergence to further initiatives in the context of the K9 cannonhaubica (the chassis of Polish Krab and Korean K9 have the same pedigree). Moreover, the agreement extended the scope of cooperation in production lobster-K launchers (transfer of launcher technology, further poloniumisation of the strategy and adaptation to the usage of 122-millimeter non-directed rocket missiles) and offering it to another NATO markets.

Hanwha Aerospace as a defence and space manufacture company offers, among others, fighting ground wagons (self-propelled drum K9), Redback combat infantry car or multi-guide strategy K239 Chunmoo rocket launchers. The company besides produces precise means of demolition and engines for air, space and sea platforms, as well as leads national space projects.
