Height: 1,500 metres. Decision: irreversible. This is not a peculiar unit training scenario, but a final task that combines the thought of saving life on earth with adrenaline in the sky. On 21-22 August 2025, at Chrcynno, a group of soldiers - blood donors performed their first single parachute jumps in life, culminating in their priceless commitment to blood donation.
This unique course was the finale of the yearly grant program of the Mazowieckie territory Branch of PCK (MOOPCK) called "Promotion of Blood Donation in the Uniform Service Environment". Its aim was to increase the number of active, regular blood donors among people who are constantly guarding the safety of citizens. The initiative was an unconventional form of thanks for their service, frequently invisible to society, but of fundamental importance.
Over 20 shares and nearly 500 liters of hope
The road to sky adventure led through mobile blood collection points. Between August 2024 and August 2025, MOOPCK, in cooperation with the Territorial Defence Forces, organized more than 20 donations in Warsaw (Mokotów, Rembertów, Ursus) and Ząbki and Marky. The effect of these effects was the most bold of expectations: nearly 500 litres of priceless blood was obtained, which was found to patients in need. It was from among the hundreds of blood donors active that those who gave her the most were chosen, rewarding them with a ticket to the sky.
From explanation to space: training the highest flights
The training, conducted by experienced instructors from SkyDive Warsaw/Warsaw Aeroclub, was a two-stage, intensive preparation for flight. The theoretical part, completed with the exam, included safety rules, emergency procedures and jump technique. Then the time came for practice – soldiers practiced sequences of movements on a peculiar training model and perfected procedures on the ground utilizing a training harness. all gesture, all step, was a faithful reflection of the situation in the air.
Only a successful conviction of the exam opened the way to the final. The decisive act was played in the sky. From the plane Cessna 208, at an altitude of 1,500 metres, utilizing the static line method, participants left the plane in turn to enjoy the view under their feet and silent flight under the parachute's bowl after a minute of free fall.
Strategic partnership for a good cause
The success of this pioneering task was possible thanks to the engagement of key partners. The initiative was financed by the Foundation of the Polish Armed Forces Group, actively supporting pro-social actions for uniformed services. The media patronage over the event was taken over by the Polish Armed Portal. Invaluable method and logistical support was besides provided by: PCK Warsaw-East territory Branch, HEIMUR Association and Aeroclub Warsaw.
This task is more than a one-time thing. It is an innovative motivation model that shows that combining service on earth with a passion for heaven can build lasting prosocial attitudes. This proves that the most precious gift – the gift of life – deserves the highest, virtually and figuratively, form of recognition.
