International training at CSWOT

From 15 to 26 September this year, the Training Centre of the Territorial Defence Army conducted a training “Remote Observer”, aimed at allies soldiers. It was attended by respective military representatives from the US, Lithuania and Estonia, who, under the guidance of CSWOT instructors, gained fresh cognition and exchanged experience.

“At the time of this training we have the chance to exchange with another allied troops the experience we have and practice common procedures. This allowed us to learn different approaches to a peculiar problem on the battlefield. This will enable us to stand side by side and defend the sovereignty of our countries in the future," said a Latvian student.

During the first part of the training, soldiers utilized specialized simulators and prepared mockups, which enabled them to master the basic tasks of the fire observer. The second applicable part of the class was held in the field – soldiers perfected their skills there, building and masking reflection posts, identifying and recognizing the targets and setting the actual artillery fire.

“In this place, future fire observers are trained. Their task is to observe the prefield, identify the mark and its location, and transmit this information to artillery. They are her eyes, set up in a large area. It is thanks to them that artillery fire is so effective" - said 1 of the CSWOT instructors.

International cooperation has played a key function in the Training Centre for Territorial Defence Forces for respective years. all year, CSWOT implements joint training with allied troops, in which firewatchers, snipers, field rescuers or JAVELIN-led anti-tank rocket operators are trained.
