Lithuania is expected to buy 2 assault boats from Finland for its Navy for €22 million. The Defence Materials Agency signed an agreement with the Latvian Ministry of Defence to acquisition multifunctional assault boats together
Contract value d is EUR 22 million. 2 fast boats will be equipped with an Israeli Spike rocket launcher, as well as a remote-controlled dense device weapon system.
According to the Ministry, the boats will be utilized by the Lithuanian Navy and will aid to counter threats from the Gulf of Finland to the Kuronski Basin. Thanks to the peculiar plan and propulsion system, boats can operate in very shallow waters.
The Minister of Defence of Dovilė Šakalienė expects fresh boats to importantly strengthen the Navy and supply a faster consequence to regional safety challenges.
"Moreover, this contract is simply a perfect example of how tiny countries can work together to make stronger and more effective defence, ensuring stableness and safety throughout the Baltic region," said the Minister.
