They say lightning never hits the same place twice. Not in the 10th Wrocław Communications Brigade. The elite leadership course “Piorun” one more time tested the physical and intellectual resilience of the best communication troops. Of the respective twelve participants, only a fewer survived to the end of this year's edition. What is the uniqueness of this course? Why is SERE just a walk? Lightning hit this time with double force – this is how you can describe the second edition of the elite leadership course for communication troops. The “Piorun” program is an initiative of the 10th Wrocław Communications Brigade command, which aims to verify leadership, physical fitness and intellectual resilience in utmost conditions.
After the success of the first edition, this year's unveiling was directed to soldiers of units under the command of the Warsaw garrison and active even greater requirements and challenges. Today, “The Thunder” is synonymous with perseverance and a test of character, which not everyone can meet. Of the fewer twelve participants, only a fewer survived to the end, thus joining the elite of communications troops. The best received the right to wear a prestigious graduation badge and the honorable title “Founded by Lightning”.
"Strike hard, hit first, never give up" – the course's motto is not an empty slogan. It's a motto that soldiers put into practice all day of struggle, fighting fatigue, pain, and sometimes self-doubt. For respective days, participants function in utmost physical and intellectual exhaustion, acting in utmost terrain and weather conditions.

The course programme covers a wide scope of issues, from tactics and field studies, fire and medical training, designation and handling of communication equipment. Each day is another challenge – tests in the fields of tactical training, fire training, planning, decision-making in real danger conditions and squad command.
"The lightning rapidly verifies leadership features and realises that without a good squad we are incapable to carry out the task," emphasizes the elder commander of the brigade command, St. Chor. staff. Mirosław Krysiak. – “Everyone could learn the limits of their endurance, and at the same time learn to trust their colleagues and cooperate despite utmost fatigue.”
The culmination of the course was a solemn gathering, during which Commander of the 10th Wrocław Communications Brigade Colonel Dariusz Pawelec gave the participants commemorative diplomas and badges.
"Through Lightning, we prepare our soldiers for the realities of the modern battlefield," stressed the Commander of Wroclaw Communications. “With this program we build awareness and make skills specified as confidence, work and the ability to make the right decisions at the most critical moments.”
The completion of the “Piorun” course is not only prestige – it is simply a real advantage in service. The acquired cognition and skills translate into efficiency of operations, quality of command and safety of soldiers.
