Memory of AK soldiers

This day is simply a symbolic commemoration of respective 100 1000 soldiers of the underground Poland and a reminder of their heroic fight and self-sacrifice in the service of Poland – said the participants of the celebration on the occasion of the National Day of Memory of the National Army Soldiers. The celebration was first established on the anniversary of the establishment of the AK on 14 February 1942.

“The National Army occupies a peculiar place in our national tradition, remains a symbol of opposition in the occupied country,” said Lech Parell, Head of the Office for Combatants and Represented People, during the celebration of the National Day of the National Army Soldiers. The main celebrations took place in Warsaw before the monument of the Polish Underground State and the Home Army on the 83rd anniversary Rename the Armed Combat Union to the AK.

For passing the national day of the AK, Captain Janusz Komorowski "Antek", president of the planet Association of Soldiers of the AK, besides thanked. "This day is simply a symbolic commemoration of respective 100 1000 soldiers of the underground Poland and all year it will remind of their heroic fight, their integrity, their loyalty to ideals and their self-sacrifice in the service of Poland," said Captain Komorowski.

Rafał Trzaskowski, president of Warsaw, besides sent a letter to the participants. "The awareness of the existence of the underground state awakened and strengthened the spirit of Poles, sustained hope and cemented national morale," he wrote. He added that for the AK soldiers the welfare of the homeland was the highest value. "Today's celebration will sustain their memory; we owe it to the people who fought heroically to regain Poland's sovereignty and independence," said Trzaskowski.

During the ceremony in front of the Polish Underground State Memorial, a memorial appeal was read, an honorary salute was given and wreaths and flowers were placed.

Today's celebration was inaugurated by the Holy Mass in the Polish Army Department for the National Army soldiers. “The legacy of the AK for contemporary Poland is highly important, it is an inspiration to act for the common good, a reminder of values that should unite us as Poles”, said Fr Mirosław Biernacki, chaplain of the soldiers' environment of the 27th Volynian Infantry Division. After the service, the participants paid tribute to the creator and commander of the AK, laying wreaths at the monument of General Stefan Rowecki "Grot".

Also in the morning at the Military Cemetery in Powązki, president Duda placed flowers on graves and symbolic graves of the commanders of the Polish triumph Service, the ZWZ and the AK: General Michał Tokarzewski-Karaszewicz, General Rowecki, General Tadeusz Komorowski "Bora" and General Leopold Okulicki "Niedźwiadka".

– Polish Underground State was a unique phenomenon in planet history, as well as the National Army, which at the time of its uprising had 100,000 soldiers, but already 2 years later almost 400 thousand.
