Germany is preparing for 2029. General Freuding at the head of the army

At the beginning of February 2027, the position of Inspector General of the Bundeswehr will be taken over by Lieutenant General Dr. Christian Freuding. The current Inspector of the Land Forces will replace General Carsten Breuer, who was elected as the fresh head of the NATO Military Committee, as the head of the German Armed Forces. Defence Minister Boris Pistorius justified this decision by the request for strong and determined leadership in the face of fast military expansion and Germany's increasing function in deterrence on the east flank of the North Atlantic Alliance.
