– We all know the importance of the moment. We all know what has been happening in the planet around the Russian-Ukrainian War for respective weeks, around the transatlantic relationship, the situation in Europe," said the Prime Minister.

– We have quite a few reasons to be very focused today, so that present and in the close future we can talk about Poland's security, about war and peace in focus and without instrumental treatment in interior political matters," said Tusk.

– This is very crucial due to the fact that it is 1 of our assets, that regardless of the emotion in the parliament or during the campaign. There is no uncertainty that there has been a consensus in Poland on fundamental issues for the safety of the Republic of Poland for many years, actually decades," he added.

However, the Prime Minister pointed out that "there are more and more clear voices in Europe, in the US, besides in Poland, which may violate this consensus, voices that, for example, in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian War are favoring Putin and Russian narrative". – But it is inactive in the Western planet and surely in Poland there is simply a political margin – he said.

Tusk: The safety of Poland and Europe depends on it

– After a fewer twelve conversations, the summits (...) a image is drawn from which 1 cannot turn just due to the fact that it is not rather the same to us, the image of changes in geopolitics," he said.

Tusk said that "one of the fundamental principles of our safety and a key component of the Polish consensus were the 2 dimensions of our safety – a transatlantic, strict and unquestionable alliance with the United States and a strong position in a united Europe as possible". "It is not easy present to reconcile these apparent needs," he said.

– Nowhere is it seen in Warsaw that the safety of Poland, Europe, the full West depends precisely on whether, regardless of turbulence, temporary destabilisation (...) these 2 foundations will survive, and I have the right to believe that they will be strengthened soon. This is surely evident in the process of waking up Europe erstwhile it comes to safety issues," said the Prime Minister.

He added that "we are facing a deep correction" of the U.S. war policy in Ukraine. “We must not be offended by reality,” he said. He stressed that a "clear assessment of the situation" was crucial for "Poland to participate actively in this". “Our attitude to the transatlantic and NATO relations must stay unquestionable,” said Tusk.

In presenting information on the global situation and safety of the country, the head of the government said that Poland "does not change its opinion on the fundamental request to keep the closest links with the United States and the North Atlantic Pact".

As he pointed out, 1 must besides “see what is happening at the moment”. He added that the revision of the US policy "is primarily about changing attitudes towards 2 fighting parties in Ukraine – Ukraine and Russia".

– It's not our occupation to review our top ally for satisfaction or good rhetoric. It is our occupation to draw conclusions for our safety from these moves and from this change. This is simply a correction, but deep, visible to the bare eye," said Tusk.

The head of government during his speech in the Sejm indicated that our safety is straight related not only to events at the front but besides to the future position of Ukraine.

He besides said that Ukraine is fighting for its own, but "the effect of this fight, if it survives, if it maintains the position of a sovereign, full independent, pro-Western state, will consequence in a markedly greater safety of Poland and Europe".

“If Ukraine loses the war, or if it accepts the conditions of peace, truce, surrender in specified a way that it weakens its sovereignty and which makes it easier for Putin to gain control of Ukraine, then in an undisputed way – and we all agree – Poland will be in a much more hard geopolitical situation.” said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister assessed that Poland must not offend and deny reality. "Today, the situation of Poland, objectively, and the situation of Ukraine above all, is more hard than a fewer months ago and we gotta deal with this fact," he stressed.

– In this change, the Ukrainian authorities, president Zelenski, themselves faced a fresh circumstance, which is to effort to establish conditions for the future of Ukraine, fast elections, change of power in Ukraine, conditions of peace and possible safety guarantees," he mentioned.

– The hope that Ukraine should receive strong safety guarantees in the close future, with the physical presence of the United States in favour of these guarantees, seems little likely today, I talk mildly than before, he stressed.

During his speech, the Prime Minister reported that “the work is ongoing preparing large-scale military training of all adult man in Poland”. – Women too, but war is more the domain of men," he added.
