Less than an hr before the end of the American ultimatum on the beginning of the Strait of Ormuz, US president Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire in conflict with Iran. The decision was dependent on the "full, immediate and safe" re-establishment of shipping through a strategical oil transport route. Trump reported that Washington received a 10-point proposal from Tehran, which he considered to be a "real basis for negotiations".
