Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenski commented on the intention of erstwhile U.S. president Donald Trump planning on 15 May to travel to Turkey, where talks are to be held between Ukrainian and Russian leaders.
Zelenski stated on 12 May that he supported Trump's initiative to introduce an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. In his opinion, a longer break in warfare could make the conditions for resumed diplomatic dialogue.
– We are curious in this and ready to guarantee silence on our part," stressed the Ukrainian President.
He besides declared his readiness for direct dialog with Russian Federation president Vladimir Putin. Zelenski pointed out that he would personally come to Turkey to take part in the talks, hoping that the Russian side would not ignore the meeting.
– We would like to see Donald Trump among the participants in these talks in Ukraine. This is an crucial step that could affect the situation. president Erdogan is truly able to organise negotiations at the highest level. I thank everyone who contributes to this process," added Zelenski.
Let us remind that Zelenski responded to the Russian President's proposal to proceed talks in Turkey. Ukrainian authorities insist on a 30-day ceasefire starting on 12 May.
