On May 23, there was the first circular of prisoner exchange, agreed by Moscow and Kiev during talks in Istanbul. 390 people returned to Ukraine – said Volodymyr Zelenski.
"We bring our people home. The first part of the trade agreement was implemented a 1000 for a thousand... On Saturday and Sunday we anticipate the exchange to continue," the president announced.
Zelenski thanked everyone who worked to let Ukrainian prisoners to return to the country. ‘We verify all name, all person. We will proceed diplomatic efforts to make specified steps possible," he stressed.
As reported by the Military Prisoners' Coordination Staff, a full of 270 soldiers and 120 civilians returned from Russian captivity. 3 women are released. A group of soldiers included representatives of the Navy, the Desantowo-Sturm Army, the Territorial Defence Army, the National defender and the State Border Service of Ukraine.
"People released from Russian captivity will undergo medical examinations, receive support in the field of physical and intellectual rehabilitation, all the benefits due for time spent in captivity and assistance in social reintegration," said the Coordination Staff.
It was besides noted that work on the next stages of the exchange is ongoing – it is expected that another group of free Ukrainians will return soon.
