On August 25, 1991, the Ukrainian parliament almost unanimously decided that only the Constitution and ponds passed by the Ukrainians are in force in Ukraine, and the USSR regulations cease to apply. Ukraine's regaining independency was crucial to the dissolution of the russian Union. It was an crucial day for this part of Europe. Poland was the first to recognise Ukraine's independence, due to the fact that it was and is in our vital interest.
