On the night of Thursday to Friday, a wheeled armored transporter Rosomak fell on a cross-country exercise square in Załuski in the Warmia-Masurian state during the training ride. A 25-year-old soldier from the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division was killed, the second was wounded, but his life was not in danger.
Soldiers from the military unit in Załuski close Nidzica were participants in the course for the crews of Rosomak wheeled armored transporters. They've been trained since May 15. They had night classes on a bad day. During them, the vehicle they were driving fell to the side. This happened on the cross-country exercise area – in an area specially prepared for field riding. A 25-year-old soldier died instantly. His colleague was transported to a infirmary in Dziadów. The doctors' first predictions were optimistic: his life was not in greater danger.
That checks out. – The soldier has already been discharged from the infirmary – he informed us a fewer minutes after Ninth Captain Karol Frankowski, acting as spokesperson for the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division. The household of the soldier who died has been taken care of. For this purpose, a group of military families support was launched – explains Captain Frankowski. It is an institution that deals, among others, with providing psychological, information and organizational assistance to close soldiers injured during the service.
The details of the accident are not known yet. "The investigation is led by the Army Police Department of Elbląg", stated the General Command of Armed Forces.
