The basics of saving lives and property, the principles of acting during the alarm and how to conduct safe evacuations – among others, young people will learn in the framework of Education with the Army. The task was prepared jointly by the Ministry of Education and Defence. School classes began yesterday and will last until June 20. It's run by soldiers.
"Education with the Army" is simply a fresh pilot programme of ministries of education and national defence. It is intended to rise the awareness of children and young people about safety and defence, and to form basic skills in defence and civilian protection in young people, as well as behaviour in crisis situations. The program was inaugurated on 17 April by the heads of both ministries: Barbara Nowacka and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. From that day until 24 April, the Ministry of National Education accepted applications from schools that wanted to participate in the project. The interest in the programme was very large, and the most institutions were reported in the Mazowieckie and Śląskie voivodships.
Finally, 3016 primary and secondary schools are active in the pilot project. The first classes began yesterday in respective twelve facilities throughout Poland. They're involved. Primary and II-IV primary school pupils.
– Regardless of the kind of school and age of participants of the "Education with the Army" will cover a full of 3 hours of schoolroom military training, including an hr of explanation and 2 hours of practice," says Major Michał Tomczyk, the project's executive coordinator. The theoretical block included, among others, issues concerning safety, alerting, safety and rescue. The programme besides includes topics on widely understood misinformation, including fake newsomThe consequences of a lie or a dangerous joke. On the another hand, students will exercise their behaviour during the alarm during applicable classes, in order to simulate evacuation from the classroom, as well as providing information in situations of various threats.
– All this cognition young people will learn from our teacher soldiers. By choosing them to participate in the project, we took into account the experience of working with children and young people and the ability to establish relationships with them. Each soldier besides received appropriate training to work at school. Over half a 1000 military instructors participate in the full task – says Major Michał Tomczyk.
It's quite a few them, due to the fact that 66% of them are soldiers of territorial defence troops. – Children and young people are a demanding audience, which is why they request to be conducted in an interesting and attractive way. On specified instructors, which are trustworthy and credible, we have placed our bets on – says Colonel Robert Pękala, the spokesperson for WOT Command. He adds that a full of 12 territorial defence brigades are active in the project, and instructors from the first of them have already started schooling. – Our soldiers from the 8th Kujawsko-Pomorskie Brigade and 6th Mazowieckie have already met with students. The instructors of the second during the full task will conduct classes in a full of 150 facilities in their territory – added Colonel Pękala. Soldiers from the OT brigade will besides appear in schools all over Poland: 1 Podlaska, 4 Warmińsko-Mazurska, 12 Wielkopolska and 14 Zachodniopomorska.
The “Education with the Army” is expected to last for a full of six weeks and last classes will take place on 20 June. As the head of the MON announced, if the pilot is successful, the classes will be permanently included in the school program. Education with the military becomes a fact. We are raising the level of safety of the Republic – said Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamish, inaugurating the program.
