How can we tell about the experiences of victims of slavery and racial force in the absence of historical sources? The work of Saidiya Hartman, Natasha Trethewey and Percival Everett is an effort to make an alternate archive – full of emotion, pain and voice of those who have been deprived of the right to tell stories for centuries.
