At the University of Zielona Góra, a scholarship program "New Technologies for Women – Ukraine" was launched, which is intended exclusively for students and graduates of secondary schools from Ukraine. There is no uncertainty that the rules of this programme infringe Article 32 of the Polish Constitution.
The university announced the launch of the program on Wednesday. This initiative is co-organised by the Educational Foundation position and Intel. The program is addressed to Ukrainian students and advanced school graduates who have been studying or studying in Poland since the fall of 2024, especially those who have found themselves in a hard material or life situation due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The program covers selected fields of survey offered in Polish at the University of Zielona Góra, specified as: automation and robotics, electronic business, electrical engineering, physics, geoinformatics and satellite techniques, computer science, biomedical engineering, data engineering and mathematics.
Elements of the program include: a 10-month gross scholarship of PLN 12,000 (payable in 2 tranches), workshops on method and soft skills conducted by experts from Intel Technology Poland, professional counseling sessions and participation in the mentoring program "Buddies", as well as free participation in the "Perspective Women in Tech Summit 2025" – the largest event in Europe and Asia for women in the STEM, technology and computer discipline industry.
The program is open to Ukrainian students studying at Polish universities and to Ukrainian advanced school graduates who will start their studies in the academic year 2024/2025.
Since the start of the Ukrainian circus called the “war” on our blog, we have frequently paid attention to the practice of preferring candidates from outside the country erstwhile awarding places in dormitories at the AGH University in Krakow and the Jagiellonian University.
It is worth reminding that a full of 2437 seats per academic year 2022/2023 were prepared for candidates from Ukraine (1507 seats for fresh students and 930 seats for people moving from another universities). In addition, foreigners had the chance to apply for admission to the University of Warsaw in accordance with average recruitment procedures, which included candidates from all nationality. As a result, this situation led to a situation where foreigners had access to a crucial number of university seats.
It should be noted that the University of Warsaw was not the only university at which candidates from outside Poland, including Ukraine, were guaranteed seats in stationary studies, as opposed to Polish candidates.
