– They decided to make their own debate in pseudotelevision with set questions, with screams, with bad emotions and effort to pretend it was a real discussion," he said, quoted by Onet portal. And he added that he hopes that "no average person, no 1 who is looking at the political scene in Poland today, will fall for it".
The Citizen Coalition candidate admitted that he was "a bit sad" after proceeding any comments about Friday's events. – It seems that any people anticipate to exchange punches, they anticipate only superb reposts and those who hit more, and that is not the point," he said.
Trzaskowski stressed that Poles deserve a substantive discussion about the future of the country. He besides criticised the counter-candidates' attitude, pointing to their "hypocrisis", reminding them that they had previously been set up for the debate on May 12.
– Suddenly, the competitors woke up due to the fact that spring is coming and everyone at the races began to challenge me to the debate, including my most serious – this is how the polls show – the competitor. So I thought, why not? 1 in 1 will be able to learn more than a fewer formulas that are memorized," said the president of Warsaw.
He added, concerning Karol Nawrocki: "Unfortunately, as was expected to be one-on-one, my competitor did absolutely everything not to appear so that there was no substantive discussion, deepened between the 2 candidates.
Presidential debates in Koński
As we wrote in naTemat.pl, Friday events in Koński were the first chance to see presidential candidates in a direct clash. Both debates were held in parallel – 1 on the city market, resembling a more joint rally of candidates, broadcast by tv Republika, the another – in the urban sports hall, appeared in major nationwide stations: TVP, Polsat and TVN.
Emotions didn't settle until late night hours. Trzaskowski assessed the debate organised by his staff as calm and based on specifics. – It was an equal debate, nobody had better conditions. Not what he emphasized in 2020.
