The tragic death of a Polish soldier in Iraq

Last weekend there was a dramatic event at the Polish Military Quota in Iraq. A soldier serving as part of an global mission committed suicide. Information on military death was confirmed by the Operations Command of Types of Armed Forces.


Official Communication: Deep Regret and Sympathy

"With deep regret and sadness, I inform that on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the station of the Polish Military Continent in Iraq, there was a tragic incidental — the suicide of 1 of the soldiers serving as part of a mission outside the state’s borders”, said Major General Maciej Klish, Operation Commander of the Armed Forces Types.

This is simply a dramatic message for the full military community, which has received with large pain the news of the death of a colleague from the mission.

There's an investigation underway. The case is investigated by the Military Police Department.

According to the military, the circumstances of the soldier's death are presently under investigation by the Military Gendarmerie. The proceedings shall be carried out under the supervision of the D.A. So far, no details have been released regarding the incidental or the identity of the deceased.
