A fresh SUV called Azimut looks amazingly modern for a Deal and could easy compete with Dacia Duster and Bigster. Its vertical front has a distinctive X-design pattern that besides appears in another models of the Russian manufacturer. We besides have sharp LED headlights seamlessly integrated into the radiator cover and bumper inlet.

On the sides we will find sharp bends on the mudguards, 18-inch aluminium wheels and two-colour painting with discreet plastic cladding. On the back there is simply a full-sized LED strip between rear lights and an aluminum insert on the rear bumper with decorative outlets.

Inside, the dashboard doesn't look very inspiring. But we have quite a few equipment. There is simply a digital cockpit with a set of indicators and a 10-inch media strategy screen with built-in navigation and virtual assistant. The software platform was developed in cooperation with the Russian company Sber. In addition to double screens, we will find as standard six speakers, a reversing camera or keyless access. However, optional improvements will be available for those willing to spend more. specified as wireless charging, panoramic roof, double-zone air conditioning, heated side windows, electrical boot flap and 360 degrees camera.

At the time of the launch, Azimut will only be driven by petrol engines, no of which have electrification. A 1.6 litre, 120 hp, slow-sucking engine will be available as well as a 132 hp 1.8 litre unit. Both versions will receive a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic CVT. A 150 hp version will besides be available in the future.

The SUV was built on a modified version of the Vesta platform, which has been available since 2015, with a lift in 2022. But the platform receives a fresh rear suspension and a clearance of 208 mm, which is rather a good consequence for crossover standards.

Despite the features of field styling, Azimut will most likely only have a front-wheel drive, as will the Vesta sedan and SW. However, Lada highlights its ‘field concept’ and ‘the ability to ride in the field’, suggesting the anticipation of a future version with all-wheel drive.

Prices

Production is expected to start in 2026. But due to the ongoing war and sanctions, it is improbable that we will see an SUV anywhere but Russia. The media there estimates that the car will start with about PLN 118,000, making it the most costly Lada in the portfolio.
