
Last year a full of EUR 22.2 billion (over PLN 94 billion) was paid to abroad citizens surviving in Germany in the alleged civilian benefit, says “Bild”. The CSU organization leader wants to end the handout, excluding, among others, refugees from Ukraine. In his opinion, benefits make many average people unprofitable.
President of the German CSU organization and Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder wants to destruct allowances for Ukrainians residing in Germany. In a tv interview with ZDF Söder, he explicitly stated that it is essential to “take care” of the civic benefit – the German equivalent of the Polish unemployment benefit – no longer goes to those who came to Germany from Ukraine. He stressed that in this case the law would be retroactive and afraid Ukrainians who had arrived at Ren earlier and were already entitled to a benefit.
According to Söder, payments to Ukrainian citizens make "so fewer of them work". He besides stated that "there is no another country in the world" that would do the same as Germany.
How much could Germany save by withdrawing the civilian benefit to Ukrainians? According to the German media, only last year the German national Republic allocated – and only for this benefit – EUR 22.2 billion, or over PLN 94 billion. This is more than the yearly cost of Polish 800 plus.
For any time now, CSU has been calling for a simplification in social spending – especially for refugees from Ukraine. It is frequently argued that many Ukrainian citizens who have come to Germany in fresh years are men of draft age. MP CSU Stephan Mayer has late requested that the benefits be taken from this group. According to "Bilda", from the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine in 2022 to June 2025, 304 1000 men aged 18 to 63 arrived in Germany.
What is the pension (Bürgergeld) in Germany? Depending on age, you can receive between €357 and 563 per month. The highest number is given to a single parent (EUR 563) and couples in a partnership (EUR 506 each). surviving with parents young adults (18-24 years old) can number to 451 Euros, youth (14-17 years old) - 471 Euros, children 6-13 years old - 390 Euros and children up to 5 years old - 357 Euros per month.
