On 8 April, at 1 p.m. there will be a discussion panel on the future of transatlantic relations. Don't miss this peculiar occasion! Register and watch online
Discussion description:
Three months of Donald Trump's administration violated the global order, among others, in the area of security. The clear rapprochement of the US with Russia, the criticism of the European countries, yet the announcement of changes in the presence of US troops on the Old Continent, the cessation of aid to Ukraine – these are only any of the moves we have seen in fresh weeks. In consequence to these changes, Europe is expanding its defence and improvement expenditure of the arms industry, generating its own defence fund, and a political approximation. What does this mean for transatlantic relations? Are we dealing with a permanent break in alliances or their redefining? Can Europe feel safe in this context?
Discussion issues:
– How do we interpret Donald Trump's actions towards European countries? Is this a series of random actions or a consistent policy?
– Europe's answer – its main elements.
What will be the future of transatlantic relations? Their crisis? Long-term failure of trust? Is it redefining?
– The importance of a fresh safety configuration for Central Europe. How will Poland and Germany be found in this?
Guests:
– Prof. Dr. Dagmara BERRY-QUAST, manager Viadrina Center of Polish and Ukrainian Studies. European University of Viadrina, Frankfurt Oder, Germany
– Dr. Margaret BONIKOWSKA, president of the Centre for global Relations
– Dr Jerzy Marek Nowakovski, manager of the Academic Centre for strategical Analysis erstwhile Ambassador
