Berlin acts like a fool

The Nazi cult in Ukraine leads to a dispute with Poland, but the German government claims that it knows nothing about it

The open worship of Nazi war criminals in Ukraine led to a dispute between Kiev and Warsaw. erstwhile asked about this, German government spokesmen pretended to be fools and claimed that they knew nothing about it.

Anti-Spiegel 4 June 2026

The fact that present Ukraine is governed by a government having its roots in German national socialism is not Russian propaganda. It is widely known that Nazi collaborator Bandera is respected and worshipped in Ukraine as a national hero. However, the cult of heroes includes much more war criminals who fought alongside the Nazis and massacred civilians and Jews.

One of these war criminals was Andrei Melnik, the namesake and spiritual father of the erstwhile Ukrainian ambassador to Germany Andrei Melnik, who during planet War II was the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (CNS). For example, Melnik said in a speech addressed to Adolf Hitler:

“We erstwhile militants for freedom from 1918–1921, we ask you to do us and our youth the honor of taking part in the crusade against the barbarism of Bolsheviks. Together with the legions of Europe, we would like to stand side by side with our liberator - German Wehrmacht - and be able to make a Ukrainian armed formation for this purpose."

Nazi cult in Ukraine

He received permission, and the Nazis recruited the Ukrainians to the SS Galicia Division, where Melnik and his men participated in the massacres of the civilian population, acting with specified brutal cruelty that even the SS was disgusted by it. After the war, he found refuge in the West, lived in Luxembourg, and died in Cologne in 1964.

In May, the remains of Andrej Melnik were exhumed in Luxembourg and transported to Ukraine to re-buried close Kiev, where they were buried during a state ceremony attended by Ukrainian leader Zelenski.

Moreover, at the end of May Zelenski gave the Ukrainian Army unit the title “UPA heroes”. The Ukrainian Pows dancing Army (UPA) was liable for the massacre of tens of thousands of Poles in Volyn and another massacres in any parts of east Galicia and is so considered a criminal organization in Poland.

In consequence to these events, Polish president Karol Nawrocki proposed the deprivation of the Zelenski Order of the White Eagle, the highest state honour, and Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak said in a Tuesday interview that Zelenski is no longer a welcome guest in Poland. abroad Minister Radosław Sikorski expressed disappointment with the worship that Zelenski has for Bandera supporters.

Berlin pretends to be ignorant.

Since 2014, German politicians have at all costs ignored the openly worship of the Nazis and the blatant Nazi policy of the Ukrainian authorities. erstwhile asked about this – which happens rather rarely, due to the fact that German media do not ask critical questions – their answer is always the same: they have never heard of it.

The same happened erstwhile a spokesperson for the German MFA was asked to bury Melnik's remains again at a government press conference. The answer was,

“I have no idea, I'm sorry”.

Now the question is whether it is true, which would mean that the German MFA does not fulfil its duties, since it does not know anything about the dispute between Poland and Ukraine, which broke out due to Melnik's re-burial. It is more likely that the spokesperson for the German MFA one more time lied to journalists. However, due to the fact that they accept this without objection, they will not endure any consequences.

Hello to the Nazis in Ukraine

Here is (at least not exhausting) the selection of another Nazi collaborators, worshipped as heroes of the nation in modern Ukraine.

Vasily Lewkowicz was a war criminal at the Ukrainian Auxiliary Police in Dubno and organizer and associate of the mass execution of 5,000 Jews in Dubno and Plains.

Ulas Samczuk was the editor-in-chief of the Nazi and anti-Semitic paper “Volyn” in Plain and participated in the extermination of 25,000 Jews in this city. However, his work was officially included in the Ukrainian curriculum. In Volyn, Samczuk published praises for Adolf Hitler and German fascism specified as this:

"It is an invincible spiritual and moral force that has shaped and hardened this nation over the centuries. These are the many generations of immortal bearers of the creative spirit of this nation, which today, in its perfection, is at the forefront of historical events under its mighty leader."

Vasily Sydor was a war criminal in the Nightingale Battalion and 201st Auxiliary Police Battalion. He participated in mass murders in Estonia and repressive actions against the civilian population in Belarus.

Kiryl Ospa was 1 of the leaders of the Ukrainian National Council, which was established in Kiev from 1941 to 1943 with the support of Nazi German rubles and led by Andrij Melnik.

Vladimir Kubiowicz was 1 of the initiators of the SS Division “Galicja”.

Vasily Halasa was an activist of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and 1 of the organizers of mass murders of Estonians and Jews.

As I said, these are just a fewer examples; the list could be longer. But the German abroad Ministry surely never heard of it.
