The British armed forces have, for the first time, carried out an operation to detain a tanker belonging to Russia’s alleged “shadow fleet,” which is utilized to circumvent global sanctions imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. The Smyrtos was seized early Sunday morning in the waters of the English Channel.
