The dispute has continued since March
A diplomatic dispute is ongoing between the Presidential Palace and the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of abroad Affairs regarding the cancellation and appointment of fresh ambassadors. The disagreements had already arisen in March erstwhile abroad Minister Radosław Sikorski decided to complete the mission of over 50 ambassadors and to retreat respective candidatures submitted by erstwhile MFA management.
The president openly disagrees with this decision, claiming that the head of the MFA is against the law. Article 39 of the Polish Constitution states that the Ambassador shall appoint and dismiss the president at the request of the Minister liable for abroad Affairs, approved by the Prime Minister.
Radosław Sikorski then stated on TVP that Duda in this way creates a "strange institution". He besides said:
The president did not foretell that the PiS would lose the election and fell into its own snare, abolishing the erstwhile strategy of rotation on diplomatic missions.
Prime Minister vs. President
On Thursday, the Prime Minister published an entry in which he criticized the president for refusing to sign the ambassadorial nominations.
The fact that president Duda is inactive blocking ambassadorial nominations in countries specified as the USA, Israel, Ukraine or NATO is highly irresponsible. I asked, I explained – everything like blood in the sand. I know, there's only 299 days left, but that's 299 besides much. Security, President!
Andrzej Duda did not stay in debt and besides expressed his opinion on the full situation. On his profile, he wrote:
Prime Minister Donald Tusk is manipulating. Polish Ambassadors from the USA and Ukraine are due to the fact that they have not been cancelled. Only the president of Poland can do this, and I have never made specified a decision. The problem is that Donald Tusk and the MFA forced them to leave the embassy and prevent them from doing their job. And that's a large difference. Only Donald Tusk and the MFA are liable for the absence of Polish Ambassadors in the USA, Ukraine and a number of another countries.
Duda wants to cooperate?
In 1 of the latest interviews Andrzej Duda stated that he wanted cooperation. As he assured:
I would like the customs in cooperation of the president with the abroad Minister, who were in Poland for 35 years, to be implemented. If it has been possible for years, then why now suddenly, erstwhile Minister Sikorski and the civilian Coalition came to power in the ministry, all these rules are broken just due to the fact that the president is from another political camp?
He besides added that he sees area for compromise. However, many commentators see the substance rather differently. They believe that Duda, although given the chance to rehabilitate in the eyes of voters, wasted this opportunity, showing that he is inactive in subjection to Jarosław Kaczyński. any already number the time to the end of Andrzej Duda's presidency, indicating that it will take 299 days.
