Soldiers of the 6th Mazovian Territorial Defence Brigade of the 64th Light Infantry Battalion in Pomochówek stood at the most crucial place of national memory, paying tribute to heroes who died in the fight for Homeland independence.
Territorials of the 64th Light Infantry Battalion in Pomochówek made a solemn change of the Honorary Station before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Marshal Józef Piłsudski Square in Warsaw. The ceremony was held on 10 August 2025 at noon. This is the first time in the past of 6MBOT, erstwhile her soldiers took over this symbolic defender - the Territorials of Pomochówka and Płock, who service in the ranks of the 64th Light Infantry Battalion. The ceremony was preceded by a brief presentation of the Brigade's past and tradition, as well as the mission and tasks of the Territorial Defence Army. Participants besides had the chance to learn about the past of the Unknown Soldier's Sepulchre – 1 of the most crucial symbols of national memory, dedicated to all the fallen defenders of the freedom of Poland.
The ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Dr. Krzysztof Stańczyk, Commander of the Territorial Defence Army, and Commander of the 6th Mazovian Territorial Defence Brigade, Colonel Witold Bubak, who together with Deputy Commander of the Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Arkadiusz Kawka, and Commander of the 64th Light Infantry Battalion in Pomochówek, Lieutenant Colonel Dariusz Grzyb laid flowers under a symbolic monument.
– Guarding in this unique place is an honor and a commitment. Today, our Territorials symbolically stood in a number of generations of Polish soldiers who paid for the freedom of the Homeland with their lives. This event, which fits into the mission of WOT – services to Poland by nurturing the memory of the past", said Colonel Witold Bubak, commander of the 6th Mazovia Territorial Defence Brigade.
The Honorable Worth of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is held continuously – 24/7, throughout the year. The station is changed all hour, and all Sunday at 12.00 it has a peculiarly solemn character, with ceremonial luminaire. akin heightened changes besides take place on public holidays: May 3, August 15 and November 11.
During the service, soldiers are liable for maintaining dignity and seriousness in the immediate vicinity of the monument, reacting to any inappropriate behavior. The Unknown Soldier's tomb is covered by constant monitoring, and the sentinels have safe communications with the watch commander.
Traditional honorary posts at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are exhibited by soldiers of the Polish Army typical Regiment. The Mazowiecki Territorials – covering the defender – represented the full kind of armed force, which is the Territorial Defence Army.
