The Central Celebration of the Polish Army was inaugurated on Thursday with a capspuke and a memorial appeal at the Monument of the Dead in 1920 at the Military Cemetery in Warsaw Powązki. president Karol Nawrocki pointed out that soldiers taking part in the conflict of Warsaw in 1920 were guarding fundamental values – free, independent and sovereign Poland. He stressed that they had opposed Soviet barbarism and anti-civilization of cruelty and death.
MON chief reminds Russia
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz pointed out that Thursday's ceremony is to remind soldiers of the Polish Army about their predecessors. At the same time, he warned that Russia remains as aggressive present as it was in 1920 and throughout the 20th century. – We in Poland most likely have the top sense of what Russia truly is – he said.
Celebration and defilement
On Friday, on the 105th anniversary of the winning battle, the celebration will begin with a Mass in the Polish Army Field Department. At 10 a.m. in Józef Piłsudski Square, there will be a solemn change of defender at the Unknown Soldier's tomb, during which the highest representatives of the state will pay tribute to the fallen.
The main and most crucial component of the Polish Army Day will be the military parade, which will pass the Warsaw Wisłostrada at noon. The Capital City Hall reported that on Friday from 8.00 am to 11.00 p.m. the crossing of Piłsudski Square and Królewska Street will be closed between Małachowski Square and Piłsudski Square. From 6:00 a.m. there will be a ban on parking on the Royal Square – from Piłsudski Square to Marszałkowska Street. Wisłostrada will be excluded from traffic on a long from Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge to Gagarina Street. From Czerniakowska drivers will only be able to enter the Łazienkowska way towards the centre or the Łazienkowski Bridge.
From 11.00 a.m. to 14.00 a bridge of Gdańsk, Śląsko-Dąbrowski and a circular footbridge at the tallness of Karowa Street will be closed for pedestrians and cyclists. Additionally, between 11.30 and 13.30, the bridges of Gdańsk and Śląsko-Dąbrowski will be completely impassable.
