That's for sure. Soldiers from 3 units: the 16th Motorised Brigade, the 16th Elk Reconnaissance Battalion and the 2nd Stargard Bomber Battalion will receive a service allowance. Money is not only a form of appreciation for their commitment, but besides a form of motivation for longer service. Additional PLN 450 per period the military will receive from 1 June.
Under the Law on the Defence of Homeland, professional soldiers can number on a number of allowances to pay. 1 of them is service allowance, who is entitled to professional service in circumstantial command and management posts and in circumstantial units. Since 2023, they have received it from the military from respective twelve units in Poland, including the 7th Pomeranian Coast Defence Brigade, the 6th Airborne Brigade or the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade.
As of 1 June 2025, in accordance with the MON's amendment of the Basic Professional Soldiers' Pension Allowances Regulation, to the list of units in which service entitlement to the allowanceThree more will join. These are forming and subordinate to the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division: 16 Motorised Brigade in Załuski close Nidzica and the reconnaissance battalion in Elk and which are in subjection 12th Mechanized Division2nd Bomb Squad Battalion in Stargard. As the representatives of the Ministry of Defence emphasize, the changes are a consequence to the current geopolitical situation and the request to grow the armed forces.
– Soldiers see it as concrete support. possibly 450 PLN per period does not seem like a large amount of money, but on an yearly basis it makes rather quite a few money – says Captain Karol Frankowski, press officer 16 Pomeranian Mechanical Division. The officer stresses that in the context of maintaining advanced combat readiness and large commitment, specified a MON decision is simply a signal to the soldiers that their regular service is appreciated. “Since August, our division has taken work for its border service, so any support of this kind is of large importance,” admits Captain Frankowski.
The officer adds that both the 16th Brigade and the 16th Battalion are key units for the 16th Division. – We make them from the standpoint, so we inactive request soldiers who will service in their ranks. The granting of a service allowance surely will motivate for those who consider our service. As a result, this can translate into a faster completion of these units – he explains.
According to the provisions, the service allowance is paid in advance on the first working day of the period for which it is due.
The yearly financial impact of the entry into force is estimated at about PLN 4.6 million. This year, assuming the regulations will enter into force on 1 May 2025, the costs are expected to amount to about PLN 3 million.
