Huta Stalowa Wola placed an order with the Czech company Tatra Defence Vehicle for the transportation of a chassis for Heron 6 × 6 vehicles, which will be manufactured in Poland. Heron is simply a full armored vehicle designed as a mobile command post. In the Polish military, it will be part of WR-40 Langust's squadron fire modules, although HSW is besides considering another variants of Heron.
Czechoslovak Group, consisting of Tatra Defence Vehicle, published a press release announcing the upcoming launch of the series production of Heron 6 × 6 in Stalowa Wola Huta (part of the Polish Armed Forces Group). This is simply a continuation of the cooperation started in 2020 after signing a contract with Tatra Export, which afraid the plan and transportation of a tactical multitasking vehicle 4 × 4 with the transmission of method documentation enabling the production of the vehicle in Poland.
As a result, the mediate class was created Waran 4 × 4 armored wheeled transporter, utilized in the Polish army, among others, as a mobile command vehicle in rocket and artillery units or as a carrier of drone launchers in Gladius system.
Now Huta Stalowa Wola has placed an order at the Tatra Defence Vehicle for the transportation of chassis for Heron 6 × 6 vehicles, which will be manufactured in Poland. “We are ready to proceed to cooperate with the Polish arms manufacture and grow our partnership to jointly build the possible of the defence sector and the capabilities of the Polish armed forces”, said Tomáš Mohapl, president of the Tatra Defence Vehicle. “The projects concerning Waran and Heron vehicles are excellent examples of synergies generated by the cooperation of Polish and Czech defence companies”, added TDV president.
The tactical multipurpose vehicle of the next generation Heron 6 × 6 was ordered by the Polish military last year as a command vehicle for squadron fire modules of artillery launchers WR-40 Langusta. At this year's global Defence manufacture Exhibition, HSW presented Herona to meet the command requirements of the full battalion. For this purpose, a fresh prototype with a 580 hp liquid-cooled Caterpillar C9.3B engine was created (the erstwhile version is powered by an air-cooled Tatra engine). The "Batalyon" Heron 6 × 6 has besides been equipped with a remote-controlled weapons module (ZSMU).
The Heron 6 × 6 is based on the Czech vehicle Tadeas 6 × 6 and was created as a command and relay vehicle, but HSW besides analysed another variants specified as a medical evacuation vehicle or an artillery reconnaissance car. – As part of the Langust task we sale 3 DMO fire modules. In each DMO there are 2 command and relay wagons: for the boss and deputy. These vehicles should scope Polish soldiers in 2028 – said Bartłomiej Bednarczyk, the HSW constructor.
The production of Heron 6 × 6 vehicles takes place in Huta Stalowa Wola, which is liable for everything (body, building, mask, effectors, payoadas, etc.) outside the chassis and drive strategy purchased from the Tatras. The Company of the Polish Armed Forces Group holds ownership rights, the right to modify and manufacture Heron 6 × 6 vehicles.
