A contract was to be signed in early June this year. Earlier in 2024 Baku ordered 16 [Thunders](https://defence24.pl/page-tagow/jf-17-thunder), the first of which was delivered in September. 40 fresh multi-purpose aircraft are intended to replace the presently utilized fighter aircraft [MiGi-29](https://defence24.pl/page-tagow/mig-29) and combat field aircraft [Su-25](https://defence24.pl/page-tagow/su-25). Azerbaijan presently has respective pieces of each of these machines (according to Flight Global 12 MiGs and 18 Su). However, these are old and limited machines. In addition, both constructions are dual-engined and so costly in operation. Meanwhile, JF-17 is simply a single-engine light multitasking aircraft. inactive comparatively inexpensive in operation and purchase, and at the same time having radar with an active electronically scanned antenna array and adapted to the usage of modern precision weapons.
