00:00. BBC: 1,000 soldiers from North Korea died in fighting in Russia's Kurd District
About a 1000 North Korean soldiers have already died in fighting Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk region," the BBC reported on Wednesday, citing Western officials who reserved anonymity.
According to officials, 4,000 of the 11,000 North Korean soldiers fighting in Russia have already suffered in combat. This figure includes killed, wounded, missing or captured.
It is unclear where injured soldiers from North Korea are being treated, or whether and erstwhile they will be replaced by fresh meals.
Radio portal Free Asia (RFA) revealed on Tuesday that North Korean soldiers fighting in the Russian army and dying during the war with Ukraine are posthumously admitted to the Korea labour Party. Members of their families shall not be informed of the circumstances of the death of soldiers or of their participation in the war.
Ukrainian troops entered the Kursk region on 6 August 2024. It was then explained that 1 of the objectives of their offensive was to force the Russians to shift any of their forces from Donbas to the east of Ukraine. At the end of August Kiev controlled 1250 square kilometers of territory of this circuit, but as of September Ukrainian forces began to lose the area as a consequence of a counteroffensive Russian army.
