The wards call him Dad, the Chief, or just Czar. He is an authority for them on naval peculiar operations utilizing combat boats. He served in the GROM, participated in maritime patrol operations. Thanks to Major Cezary Jóżwiak, the training standards of all Polish peculiar formations, which usage fast combat boats, have been harmonised.
Men specified as Caesary Józwiak are referred to as “the human institution.” He served in GROM for many years. He was the commander of the Marine Control Section and a combat diver. After taking off his uniform, he worked in various companies, where he built safety at sea. But he returned to service as part of an active reserve and from 2024 to 2025 educated a fresh generation of combat boat pilots in Special Forces Training Centre.
His experience became invaluable especially now that the Baltic, as a consequence of Russia's action, became an arena of constant force and threats. The presence of alleged units Shadow fleets, acts of sabotage aimed at critical infrastructure, organised crime – these are the elements of reality that maritime safety services must face. That means, among another things, helms of combat boats that operate where fast consequence and precise maneuvers count. And on specified actions, Major Rez. Caesary Jóżwiak knows himself as small as anyone.
It all started in 1992 erstwhile Caesary Józwiak began his service in JW 2305, or GROMUnder the leadership of Colonel Sławomir Petelicki. He co-created a section of marine helms, although he lacked experience in specified activities. no of us had any contact with motorboats before. I had only a sailor's patent and I was a water rescuer – the colonel rez recalls. Peter Gąsta, later commander of JW 2305, who, along with Caesar Jóżwiak, wiped the routes in GROM as far as maritime operations were concerned. I was a water rescuer, too. I utilized to swim a lot on canoes. The staff was looking for people who would make a water section, and that's how it started – says Major Rez. Caesary Jóżwiak.
The first years of training at GROM are truly pioneering times. In 1993, thanks to Colonel Petelicki's contacts, instructors from the USA flew to Poland, erstwhile Navy SEAL operators. A year later, the British from the peculiar Boat Service joined the training of Polish specialists and it is their actions that Major Cezary Józwiak recalls as a breakthrough experience.
Subsequent years passed under the sign of the realization of ideas for conducting maritime peculiar operations. And he drew them from the experiences he had gradually gained. For example, he was the first Pole to participate in the on-calls of the British peculiar Boat Unit in Asia. Among her tasks was to patrol the waters between Hong Kong and China, where smuggling took place. – I was sent there for a typical training internship, but erstwhile they saw that I was doing well as a helmman, they began sending me on night patrols. Then I was shot at at sea for the first time – says Major Jóżwiak.
For years of service, he not only gained valuable experience, but, most importantly, he was able to pass on the acquired cognition to candidates for combat boat pilots in GROM. “Czarek is an unquestionable authority in conducting peculiar naval operations, swimming in all weather conditions, conducting boarding,” says Colonel Gąstan. He stresses that there is no specified expert in Poland. In time for training for Major. Jóżwiak began to hit helms not only GROM, but besides another units and services. I met him 20 years ago erstwhile I served in the Marine Border defender Division. He enjoyed large respect, among others, due to the way he approached the trainees – says the pilot JW Formosis [we don't give the names of peculiar Forces soldiers]. Caesary Jóżwiak willingly shared a rich experience. – He pointed out the accuracy in all aspect: from the outfit of the soldier, through the preparation of equipment, to the usage of the steering wheel and manet – says the helm of Formozy. We utilized to call him Dad in GROM. He did not divide his "sons" into better and worse, in each he sought strengths. At the same time, he placed the full squad first – says Lf. Lukasz Zahorski, 1 of the pilots, a student of Major Jóżwiak from JW GROM.
The culmination of his efforts for uniformed services was the improvement of a training program for the peculiar Forces Training Centre. – Thanks to the Witch, it worked harmonise standards for all peculiar formations that usage fast combat boats. All Formozy adepts, from the State Protection Service or Border Guards receive the same dose of cognition and experience, previously reserved for GROM pilots. This is crucial due to the fact that in the event of a crisis they will be liable for protecting critical infrastructure. So they gotta act in the same way – says Lieutenant Zahorski. By 2025, erstwhile he had to end his service in the active reserve due to age, Major Józwiak was active in the training of helms at the CSWS as head of course. He brought in a squad of instructors who agreed without hesitation to work with the “first GROM sailor”. – Organizing specified an intensive course for the military and officers was bordered by a miracle, but the Wizard succeeded. He is simply a man who can do things at first glance impossible – says Zahorski.
What motivates him to act? He does not find a simple answer, but frequently mentions the character of Gen. Petelicki, the creator of the GROM, who shaped him as a soldier and a man. – He acted outside the strategy and taught us the same. We worked in an above-average way, we always had a strong motivation to learn and service – says the winner.
