"Project Warrior" returned to Giżycka

Attention to the destiny of veterans and their dedication, as well as the popularization of combat sports, are the main objectives of an initiative known as the "Project Warrior", which was organized for the 42nd time. The host function was taken by the 15th Giżycka Mechanized Brigade, and the function of instructors was embodyed, among others, by military men who are successful in fighting sports in global arenas.

During two-day classes as part of the 42nd edition of the "Project Warrior", held on 26 and 27 November in the 15th Giżycka Brigade Mechanized by Zawisza Black, more than 30 participants from various military units had the chance to train elements of mixed martial arts (MMA) under the supervision of qualified trainers and titled masters. The stars of this installment of the “Warrior” were soldiers of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division: St. Cpr. Robert Income and St. Ws. spec. Sandra Kruk.

The income is simply a kick-boxing champion in the K-1 formula, winning 1st place in the planet Cup (2023), multiple European Cup medalist and three-time Polish champion in the K-1. In turn, Kruk is simply a six-time Polish champion in boxing, runner-up of the amateur planet and bronze medalist of the European championship. It's my first contact with this project. I am very pleased to be able to participate in it," said Robert Income, who, during his classes, intended not only to pass on any of his cognition to the participants, but besides to inspire veterans to start or proceed an adventure with specified a form of physical activity.

"Project Warrior" is simply a series of education and sports classes for soldiers – veterans of missions abroad, veterans injured and instructors of physical education of military units of all types of armed forces. Members of families of soldiers killed on abroad missions are besides encouraged to participate in the program. The aim of the task is, on the 1 hand, to draw attention to the destiny and dedication of veterans, while on the another hand, to popularise combat sports as an effective way to form character, as well as to build skills, and learning to deal with emotional challenges by soldiers returning from the mission. This task connects all veterans. It's not divided into veterans of victims and others. We are all equal and we are glad that in the 15th Giant Mechanized Brigade we can again implement the “Project Warrior” – said Brig-Gen Grzegorz Kaliciak, Commander 15 BZ.

The Giżycka brigade was already hosting the “Project Warrior” in 2019. Gen. Kaliciak admitted that he hoped that in the future his unit would be able to organize these classes again. He besides pointed out the request to scope out with akin projects to children and young people. “I want our veterans were invited to schools due to the fact that our soldier, who carried out tasks abroad, is simply a hero who should communicate his knowledge, experience and work with young people a lot. We are ready for this – the general who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and commanded The celebrated defence of the Carbala Town Hall (2004).

"Project Warrior" launched in May 2018. The thought behind the task was Colonel Stephen Głuszczak, then head of the multimedia branch of the Military Centre for Civic Education, who later served as manager of the Centre for Veteran Activities outside the State Borders.
