President Nawrocki's decisions – from vetoing animal protection laws to blocking regulation against large Tech – are increasingly controversial. In the program "Time for Unions", Piotr Szumlewicz and Piotr Nowak indicated that the actions of the head of state do not make a coherent political vision, but alternatively service to destabilise the government and defend the interests of the powerful.
President in defence of large techs and speculators. Time for a union - Piotr Szumlewicz, Piotr Nowak
In fresh weeks president Karol Nawrocki has become 1 of the most commented actors of the Polish political scene. His decisions – both in social and economical matters – sparked a wave of criticism, and any of them even amazed part of his own background.
One of the most controversial moves was a veto against a bill prohibiting dogs from being kept in chains. The task was supported by more than 90% of the population and a vast majority of Members, including parliamentarians of Law and Justice. The president justified his veto with talks with agrarian residents, suggesting that conventional practices require maintenance. This argument was met with outrage – commentators point out that Nawrocki has sided with the most conservative and archaic attitudes towards animals, ignoring the social change of consciousness.
At the same time, the president signed a bill prohibiting the breeding of animals for furs, stressing that most Poles argue this practice. This movement shows no consequences – in 1 case Nawrocki cites the will of society, in another she ignores it.
Critics note that the President's decisions are more likely to consequence from political calculation than from a substantive evaluation of the laws.Even more excitement was caused by vetoing cryptocurrency and social media regulations. Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski pointed out that Nawrocki was opposed to any effort to taxation and control global technological giants – from Meta to TikTok. According to commentators, the president becomes a defender of large Tech's interests, blocking laws to defend users from hatred speech, disinformation or pedophile mobs. There is besides a clear aversion to the European Union, whose directives frequently become the mark of presidential vetoes.

Rather, they match the political strategy of obstruction – vetoing further laws to paralyze Donald Tusk's government and force earlier elections. As a result, the president appears to be a “friend of the powerful”, defending the interests of corporations and conservative force groups, at the expense of most citizens.
Decisions on animals, immigrants or net regulations show that the president of Karol Nawrocki is increasingly opposed to the public. Critics foretell that the symbol of this word can become not only a veto against laws, but besides a image of dogs left on chains – a sign of a policy that has stopped in the past.
