22 August at 12:00 p.m.The Church of Divine Mercy in Manchester held the Holy Mass and farewell to the temporal remains of General Louis Kmicic-Skrzyński. The veteran of the conflict for freedom and independency of Poland will return to Poland after years of emigration and will remainder at the City Cemetery in Białystok.
After celebrations in the UK, the coffin with the general's temporal remains will be transported by military aircraft to Poland, where on 26 August there will be a ceremony Mass in the Basilica of the insignificant presumption of the NMP in Białystok. Then, in the military ace, the coffin will be transported to the city cemetery, where it will be laid to the grave and the general's memorial unveiled.Both the celebrations in Manchester and Białystok will be held in the ace of honor of the Polish Army. The burial of Louis Kmicic-Skrzyński in Białystok, a city where he served as commander of the garrison for 10 years, will be a symbolic lock of the past of his life and work for the free Homeland.
The project, in which the remains of General Kmicic-Skrzyński are brought to Poland, serves as a reminder of the Polish emigration life, the times in which they came to operate and the challenges they tried to face. This is simply a tribute paid to veterans of the conflict for freedom and independency of Poland, who maintained Polish traditions and culture in an emigration environment.
The action is carried out on the initiative of the household of the General and the Bialystok branch of the Polish Earth Society, commissioned by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister by the “Help to Poles in the East” Foundation named after Jan Olszewski in cooperation with the Institute of National Memory, Ministry of National Defence, Consulate General in Manchester and the City of Białystok. The monument of the veteran of the conflict for freedom and independency of Poland was founded by the Institute of National Memory.














The task is financed by the Chancellery of the president of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Poland as part of a public task concerning the assistance of Polish and Polish people across the border 2023.
