Not everyone has the chance to receive regular academic education, even before graduation. However, students and students of schools who cooperate with the Military method Academy are gaining this opportunity. These schools not only co-organise regular lessons with the university going far beyond the curriculum, but can offer much more to their pupils: access to the unique laboratory base of the Academy and the base of military training.
The patronage of the Military method Academy has so far received 158 schools: advanced schools, technicians and school teams. For only six years, over 3.3 1000 candidates entered the WAT from the patronage schools.
Both sides: for schools and for the Academy
As part of the agreed cooperation, academic lecturers regularly come to the institutions cooperating with the university and conduct classes adjusting the level of communication to the needs of the advanced school. This requires effort from both a teacher who needs to take into account the educational requirements of the school and from a student who should concentrate as much as possible in order to get the most out of the lesson conducted at an above-average level. This does not regulation out education through play due to the fact that the themes are fascinating and frequently inspiring to further, independent improvement of polytechnical passions. Photographic documentation from selected classes shows that students feel free to study.
The lessons are besides taught by students – civilians and uniforms, organized in the technological Circles by enthusiasts or primates who want and can inspire younger colleagues to science. The students add military aspects to the survey and show students the possibilities of choosing a professional soldier. The measurable benefit for schools resulting from specified cooperation is to increase the level of preparation of students for both professional exams in the method school and for the matriculation at each kind of secondary school. This translates into the results of alumni in recruitment to college, and consequently, into the ranking position of the facility.
Representatives of the Academy participate in events organised by schools. These include meetings with seniors, lessons of the discipline Festival, presentations of the Exploration Festival, meetings with graduates, Day with Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, Open day in schools, organize meetings on the occasion of school jubilees, pledges of students, Educational Fair. common inspiration makes double sense. Students feel more assured erstwhile recruiting for college and bravely scope for places in all the WAT departments. The university receives candidates, and consequently students who are well prepared to learn at academic level. Permanent contact with secondary schools is almost a warrant that candidates for students will be perfectly prepared, even profiled for individual faculties. The number of 3323 students from the patronage schools admitted to survey at WAT from 2018 to 2023 is simply a measurable effect of specified activities.
Courses and competitions a chance for WAT indices
The Military method Academy in cooperation with the patronage schools holds 2 nationwide competitions: mathematical and physical. Participants who get to the final – although competitions are open, the winners and laureates most frequently learn in schools under WAT substantive care – receive the right to the Academy indexes immediately after the graduation.
Preparation for competitions starts with lessons with teachers and the best students of WAT and classes at the Academy itself. The news can be supplemented by taking part in independent vacation courses in mathematics and physics, which the Military method Academy makes available to everyone curious in the summertime School of WAT. Both courses are conducted in the form of online podcasts and can be utilized by any student.
With an expanding scope of online learning opportunities, WAT staff besides predicted a distant way of conducting selected lessons. This is 1 form of cooperation that does not exclude direct meetings with students, but complements the educational offer for schools.
WAT open to each student
They cooperate closely with the Academy of Uniform Classes and the schools of General Prof. Sylwester Kaliski. Very close to WAT – both locally and organizationally – is the Military Information Technology advanced School of Polish Kryptonians (WOLI), which educates future adepts of computer science. The vast majority were supported by a group of Cybernetics faculty students, and the best after colleges go to the Cyberspace defence Army.
Pupils in uniform do not yet have any obligations to the MON. They have until graduation to decide on the duties of a soldier. Service is voluntary besides in the first year of study, but in the second year military students already gain the position of professional soldiers. The students who postgraduate from the Academy are guaranteed to work after college. Military units of all kinds make a "demand" for educated professionals in the fields concerned, giving a number of them. all year, the university creates precisely so many locations in individual departments. The soldier becomes an officer for 5 years and with his skills tailored – he goes to the unit waiting for him. Before that, he has specialized practices.
One kind of permanent cooperation is the Cyber.Mil-Class Program, which is straight supported by the Ministry of Defence. In this case, specified as in LO in Świdnik, the program provides students with cognition of cybersecurity and information technologies, encouraging them to become leaders of the digital future. 1 component of this initiative is the extended computer labs. The Military method Academy is among the patrons of specified classes, and students from regions go to workshops all year to the university, learning its specificity and the IT issues developed here.
Students “in civilian society” are besides already in contact with the university at the higher education stage. The Academy prepares future adepts – depending on their passion – for a given department. Construction, aviation, logistics, computer science, mechanics and mechanical engineering, mechatronics or chemistry. The offer is much wider, and all courses are available on the WAT website in the Recruitment tab.
Education with the military – adapted to the needs of young people
How does a teenager know what he's actually curious in? The decision to choose the course of survey is now facilitated by cooperation between the school and the university. At the phase of four- or five-year secondary education, the student will meet with scientists from WAT. If individual inspires him, he might be in a direction he never thought of before. It is hard to imagine a more effective way of uncovering talent than comprehensive lessons beyond the curriculum. "Inspiration" for future technological work can besides flow to a young man during visits to WAT laboratories. Flight simulators, optoelectronic equipment, lasers, mobile robots – all of this is in contact with students of schools, who are sponsored by WAT.
For lessons to be interesting and inspiring, they cannot be besides complicated. Sometimes it just has to be... fun. At this age, fun is inactive the best way to learn. This thought is based on show activities and peculiar training. The students of the cooperating schools can see the camp, practice at the shooting scope under the supervision of WAT instructors, learn the basics of survival, or implement in first aid practice – that's all at the Academy. Students from discipline circles besides come to schools all over Poland for shows. During Open WAT Days (general students and in individual academic departments) you can play chess with NATO champions, watch pyrotechnic shows, find yourself in a battlefield simulator or in a real tank or a combat vehicle. besides students have a chance to make certain that the Military method Academy is the right way; in the last ranking of the Foundation Perspectives the university ranked 3rd among Polish universities in terms of the number of women studying here.
As part of the patronage, regular show lessons are conducted: online and stationary classes in schools as well as classes and workshops at WAT. Academic teachers go to schools even twice a period to work with the teaching staff of advanced schools and technicians.
Examples of topics of the course are ideally addressed to the interest of young people, which is confirmed by the squad of schools in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, who in his social media appreciated the lecture of the technological and educational assistant of the Radioelectronics Institute of the Faculty of Electronics WAT colonel. Peter Seraphin on echolocation, its usage and importance in the modern military.
The Department of Electronics, in addition to bringing students closer to basic phenomena specified as radio waves, besides explains youth's doubts about whether an aircraft can fly without electronics, how navigational satellite systems operate, how to be calm about loved ones and property through electronic safety systems and how to make average objects gain “intelligentity”. It presents biometric techniques utilized to identify identity and brings together energy bases, explaining how much energy solar collectors can produce.
The Department of Security, Logistics and Management not only brings the subject of supplies in the military, transport and movement of troops in the territory of Poland closer, but reveals to the students the secret of the influence on the subconscious of the opponent in modern hybrid wars and the mechanisms of supervision in public and private space (the “Who is Watching Us”). Youth can discuss fact and freedom, the addictions of the 21st century, specified as social media or the influence of fresh technologies on the evolution of terrorism. During the workshops, teenagers learn to negotiate, communicate effectively and manage stress and make their own brand and strengthen intellectual resilience.
The Faculty of Land Engineering and Geodesy during applicable classes explains to future architects and construction experts how road surface is diagnosed, how from geodesy measurements to 3D models, how concrete construction differs from modular construction and what an engineer does in work. Lessons taught by employees of this department besides concern numerical weather forecasting and imaging in detecting military and non-military threats.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering shows students what happens during a road accident, presents military vehicles and platform control systems, explains the importance of 3D printing in manufacture and discipline and the function of computer simulations as tools of the 21st century.
The Department of Mechatronics, Armed Forces and Aviation discusses the operation of aircraft engines during the lesson. Military experts explain the interplay between armor, weapons and ammunition (the “Tarcza and sword today”), teach rocket history, explain what reverse engineering is, and how modern measuring instruments can be utilized to test electrical quantities.
The Department of fresh Technologies and Chemistry shows students why the chemists request spectroscopy of the IR, explains the phenomenon of liquid crystals, sheds light on... light – as a tool for the survey of matter, and besides indicates the usage of fibre optics. Students discover that explosive besides saves wellness and life, learn about weapons and ammunition, and those who are more curious in nature will learn the past of sponges and magnets, the meaning of crystals or the foundation of quantum theory. On the another hand, physics is encouraged by the lesson "How many cups weighs a puppy, a thing about experience and measurements in physics".
The Cybernetics Department allows students to realize what sines and cosines are for in practice, showing their translation into sounds and images. It leads youth from arithmetic and logic to digital gateways and circuits and invites to the modern planet of semiconductors – from transistor to memory and processor. Students will learn about the construction and operation of individual computers, servers and supercomputers. The participants of the lessons will never be abroad concepts specified as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, computer simulation, large Data, algorithms, procedures, databases or cryptology, known since ancient times. Cyberexperts explain how computers usage natural language (learns on language models specified as Chat GPT) and bring together selected elements of ICT safety that anyone can apply in everyday life (a lecture on the safe processing of information). technological minds can trace together with WAT lecturers the intertwining of mathematics and physics throughout past and learn how mathematicians invented imaginary numbers and how physicists showed that without them the microworld could not be decently described. They besides learn about different numerical systems (the lesson “Why not always 2 + 2 = 4”).
As part of classes with WAT, you can besides take walks in Warsaw in the footsteps of mathematicians – these can be places connected with mathematicians, cryptologists and even a military cemetery.
* * Oh, * *
Acting for the improvement and education of young people The Military method Academy promotes cognition in the fields of university studies and the ability to prepare candidates for the best start in academic life.
On the occasion of signing agreements between WAT and educational institutions, teaching staff and school heads have the chance to visit selected university laboratories. Teachers and youth take part in classes. Cooperation besides concerns the provision of consultations and assistance in selecting the content of programming activities, the provision of press issued by WAT and publications of a technological nature which can be helpful in the teaching process.
Students and students – ambassadors and WAT ambassadors – besides travel to those schools that do not yet cooperate with the Academy. As part of their recruitment activities, they advance their knowledge, organize attractive workshops and in direct talks talk about the University. They participate in scientific, cultural and patriotic meetings organized by individual educational institutions in Poland.
